Marine protection
- National Marine Sanctuary: This refers to the protected waters under a particular jurisdiction. In other words, the marine environment is under special protection under these areas. Example include habitats such as kelp forests, underwater, archaeological sites, rocky reefs, and deep-sea canyons.
- Marine Protected Areas: This involves the protected areas of seas, estuaries, the Great lakes, and the ocean. Examples include wildlife refuges and research facilities.
- Sustainable Eco-tourism: This refers to the responsible use of natural resources by humans for recreation. Examples include eco-friendly boating, watching whales and dolphins, and scuba diving or sustainable fishing.
- Humpback Whale NMS: This is a national marine sanctuary in Hawaii that is protected by the US to help create a conducive environment for the breading of humpback whales in the area. Around 12000 while from the pacific come to this area to reproduce and nurse their calves.
- Stakeholders: These are people who have an interest in something, such as protection of the marine environment. For this, they can include marine scientist, government officials, and environmentalist.
- Marine Conservation: This is the protection and the preservation of the marine ecosystem in both the ocean and the sea. This limits the damage that can be inflicted by the human on the marine environment and ensures that the marine ecosystem is restored. Example of this would include setting national marine sanctuary and marine protected areas.
- National Park: This is an area of the national countryside or sometimes the sea, where the government has enhanced its protection for the protection of wildlife or enjoyment of the general public.
- Ecosystem Services: This refers to the benefits that are gifted to humans by the natural environment and from other healthy ecosystems. Example of this include agro-ecosystems, aquatic ecosystems, marine ecosystems, forest ecosystem and others.
- Recreational stakeholders: This is people or groups with interest to the recreational facilities. They include tourist, the board of tourist, the ministry of tourism, and others.
- cultural stakeholders: these are people or groups of people interested in the preservation of culture. They include individuals, cultural leaders, board members of culture and heritage and others.
