Tesco

Tesco has over 3,500 stores in the UK alone. Each store stocks an average of 40,000 products at a time. Therefore effective tracking of all these products entails creating millions of data points. Hence this is where analytics of in-database come into the picture. The process entails the deployment of analytics technology at data storage points instead of moving data into external analytics in batches. A recommendation is for Tesco to transition into a data lake from the traditional data warehouse using the Hadoop Framework. This step will form a centralized cloud-based repository for all the company data. The data will also be coded to facilitate seamless access by the intended users whenever required.

Secondly, I recommend that Tesco engages in open source development due to its rapid involvement. The company engineers, data scientists and developers ought to embrace open source development technology wherever possible.
