INTRODUCTION
Team work is a pillar to success in an organization. The stakeholders in the setting school include; parents, students, non-teaching and teaching staff, P.T.A. and B.OM .This paper analyses the strength, weakness and recommendations.
STUDENTS
The students play integral parts in the success of the institution. The following indicators are discussed;
- A) DISCIPLINE
In this term most students followed the school rules and regulations without close supervision therefore fewer students were involved in breaking the school rules and regulation. The common mistakes committed by students include;
- Reporting to school late
- Not being in proper school uniforms
- Not following school language policy
- Abseentism without seeking permission
- Noise making classes hours and during personal study
- b) ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
Evaluation is important in terms of gauging the students’ academic progress. It was noticed that during exam 1 some students missed some papers.
During exam II there was a great improvement as most students did the exam a few student who missed the exam had a substantial reasons
In terms of score, the students scored low grades in the exam
- PARENTS
It’s a responsibility for the parent to pay school fees and remedial money. Most parents have not taken the responsibility to pay school fees and remedial money. It was also noted that do not provide their children with basic requirement for learning making it a challenge to the students understand the concept during lessons.
- SECURITY
There is a well laid protocol on the way of handling students, staff and visitors when coming in and when moving out.
The weakness;
During daytime there is only one guard on the gate which is a challenge he/she cannot move around the compound
- NON-TEACHING STAFF
In the store, there is a great improvement in term of availability to give assistance whenever she is required.
The weakness is;
The time for breaks when student s require to exchange for books is not possible as she also closes for either break tea or lunch
Confusion on the students which book are issued from the store and those that should be acquired from the school library
The cleaning of offices has greatly improved can be rated as 70% .The person in charge should work well in cleaning tables, chairs, windows and wall.
Cleaning of washrooms has greatly improved .Although in some instances in the afternoon they are not done and overflow of water hence wet floor which is risk
Cleaning of I.C.T. is average; he only concentrates on the floor .The machines are not covered after use hence exposed to dust
The windows are not frequently cleaned and curtains are not placed
Preparation of tea and serving is done .cleaning of utensils is done average .The time give during lunch is short
The meals prepared from kitchen sometimes is of poorly prepared, the quality of meat being received is not fresh
The secretary’s office there is confusion that is responsible for printing of papers in case a teacher requires copies
- TEACHERS
In this section it covers the general staff and some department
- Academic dept
The members of the department have ensured that the core value of the school is given the first priority
The preparation of a timetable that was “friendly” gave teachers adequate time for preparation for the lesson
The evaluation was well done i.e. the students were able to do fully papers (K.N.E.C. standard)
The academic department has the following weakness;
- Do not consult/allow teachers to participate in giving opinion to critical decision before presenting the subject matter to the administration for policy implantation
- The set date line does not favor all teachers ,for instance the last papers done toward end of term teachers have less time to submit marks
- This term the recording of marks was done twice i.e. at the school website, and the central computer was tiresome.
- Remedial committee
The remedial committee members did a recommendable job, as all teachers were paid for their lessons.
The weaknesses are:
- Communication was not well-laid due to inadequate consultation.
- The challenge on missed lessons
- Lack of transparency on class teachers on remitting money to the Treasurer of the committee
- Games department
Due to Covid -19, the government suspended co-curriculum activities. The school is well known for nurturing talent.
The following are challenges;
- Lack of trained coaches (teachers ) who cannot train their respective without the assistance of external coaches
- ALL teachers in the staff do not have essential first aid skill
- Some teams do not have uniforms.
- Inadequate training equipment
- Team managers do not have truck suits that have a school logo.
- There is no proper time set for games in the school program
- Teachers in general
- Teachers work as a team .This has made the smooth flow of the school program and value addition in the final exam (K.CK.C.S.E
- .eachers reporting to school very earlier and leaving school late in the evening .This give students humble time for students to consult.
- Teachers attending lessons on time
- Teachers embracing team work on their respective department
- Teachers were accessed by their respective H.OH.O.D. time
The weakness includes;
- Some teachers miss lessons while they are in school and sometimes they are not in school. They do not communicate to their respective H.O.D/H.O.S to organize for the lessons to be attended by the members in that department.
- Some teachers are using ICTI.C.T.d computer room for all their lessons hence making some teachers not getting a chance to apply ICTI.C.T. there are few projectors in the school
- The imbalance of lessons in some departments
INFRASTUCTURE
- The school has high number of teachers and non-teaching staff, the number of washrooms are not adequate)
- The population of students is high; washrooms for both girls and boys are inadequate
- The school does not have a multipurpose hall
- The school do not have games office/games store for management games affairs
- CI.C.T.om has inadequate computers
ADMISTRATION
The administration has done a great improvement namely;
- Creating a spacious room for Deputy Principal
- Mathematics department allocated a spacious room
- Changing meal menu
- Increasing WIFI coverage
- Increasing number of washrooms for teachers while others are work in progress
- Improving in cleanness by non-teaching staff after a follow up by the administration
- The fast decision making from the administration has enabled teacher to be motivated
- The smooth flow of information from the administration to relevant teachers has enhanced teachers to meet the expected objective within the required time
- The transparency in the office when handling the staff issues is highly appreciated by the members
- Through motivation (intrinsic & extrinsic) has led to boost morale
The weaknesses include;
- The projects that are work in progress has not been communicated to relevant affected department or sections
- The menu about proving something to be served with tea on Wednesday and Friday is being inconsistency
RECOMMENDATIONS
Discipline
T.OT.O.D. ensure that students are in proper school uniform as they report in the morning. Checking to be done at the gate.
English department to guide in implementation of ‘language policy’ and all teachers to assist in the implementations.
Abseentism of students: the class teachers to always make a follow up on students who are absent, any student who is absent without a valid reason should be presented to the deputy for disciplinary action.
All teachers should assist in maintaining unnecessary noise.
Academic performance
Students who fail to do exam should face disciplinary committee to handle their case.
Students who score low grades should bring patents and the performance be discussed to find out the reason behind the poor results.
Academic department
Consult all teachers before making critical decision, it may be done be calling for briefing to discuss the subject matter.
The setting of datelines should factor in time between the paper was done band date of submission
The academic department to adopt the website as it’s a friendly method of recording marks.
An additional printing in science/ maths department.
Remedial
To consult before making a final decision to avoid confusion
To ensure that atleast 100% lessons were taught such that the parents have a value of their money
Games department
Teachers to undergo basic coaching skills and implement them
Teachers to undergo basic first aid skills
Non teaching staff
The storekeeper to open office at 1; 30pm and state the categories of books to be issued from the store and those from library
Cleaning to be done in all offices and the ICTI.C.T.om
Meals: we need a lady to be in charge for teachers meals and to be in charge of receiving the meat
There should be a person responsible in printing of papers.
Teachers
Teachers to inform the H.O.D/ H.O.S in case of abseentism such that they can organize for cover up of those lessons.
More projectors to be facilitated
The department to allocate the lessons well
Infrastructure
The administration and BOMB.O.M.ould facilitate for adequate infrastructure in the school.
To inform the relevant department departments on the issue of work in progress
All break tea to be served with something
