1.HO1- rock salt has detrimental effects on the plants when applied
HO2- rock salt leads to the death of plants after its application.
(b) (i) experimental group is the effects that would be studied in the research. From the experiment that we did, we used a salt sensitive plant. In those plants that are sensitive to salt, salt exposure may lead to stunted growth, seed loads dyeing of the branches, scorching of the leaves and also the leaves dropping prematurely. The plant also has a lot of stress and it is more prone to insects and pests.
(ii) the control group is the group that does not receive the treatment. Chloride as well as sodium moves away when the waters are dissolved in the water. Rock salt has an effect when the salt is sprayed to the gardens, because the water in the soil are absorbed by the salts. This will lead to root dehydration as well as water stress.
(iii) the independent variable is the one that does not change ,it stands alone and it is not affected by other variables. Light color is the independent variable.
( iv) dependent variable is the one that changes and it is not affected by other variables. Plant growth is the dependent variable.
(v) Experimental design refers to how the participants are allocated to different groups in an experiment. Repeated measures design was the one that was used in the experiment above.
2 (a) I would conclude that if no action is taken, then the students should be a little bit careful while walking on the pathways that have ice.
(b) Legal action can be taken and the individual taken to court.
3 (a) it would be cheaper and more environmental friendly
(b) I would propose to raise tuition with a few dollars per student so as to offset per this cost.
(c) I would downplay the increased cost to the college and emphasize on the benefits that it has to the environment, especially the positive effects to the environment.
(d) After the experiment of the effects of rock salt done by the students around the campus, the results gotten has come to our notice that rock salts has a lot of effects on plants. The effects lead to wilting and dying off of the plants and also the plants cannot be in a position to draw water from the roots.
4 (a) The facility department should aid us with financial support so as to carry out with our various activities.
( b) I would agree with this because of the way expensive it is and also the effects that the ice salts has to the environment.
- regarding the issue, the future environmental biology students should follow to the latter and make sure that rock salt is not applied at all because of the negative reasons that it applies.
