A Spree killer s someone who kills two or more people within a short time without a calling-off period. In most cases, spree killers do not resume their normal lives in between killings like serial killers. The maximum time between killings of spree killers is considered to be seven days. For example, In January 2021, a man killed at least three people in a cross-town shooting spree.
The Chicago man— Jason Nightingale, shot seven people at different places throughout the city. Among the seven people shot, three people died instantly. According to New York daily news (2021), Nightingale fatally shot 30- year-old University of Chicago students in the South Side neighborhood of Hyde Park around 1 p.m. local time. The suspect then went to an apartment building down the block where he shot two women, a security guard who died instantly, and another was in critical condition.
Afterward, the stolen car keys of a man within the apartment and drove to Brainerd. At this time, Jason shot a 20 years-old man and wounded an old lady. Nightingale then drove a mile to the south, where he short a fifteen-year-old girl. He later drove a mile north of the city and fired shots at a police officer investigating the Brainerd store shooting. In Evanston, the spree killer fired shots in a CVS at around 5 p.m. In this instance, nobody was hit. The Evanston police force chased Jason, where he held a woman hostage at gunpoint. The killed shot the woman in the neck and ran into the nearby parking lot, where the police killed him.
