Police brutality on blacks

Introduction

There has been a noticeably high surge of race identification and support after numerous police brutality issues in the USA. The public has been seen rioting, demanding justice for the deceased. Many thought that, as with any local trend, this would soon be over. However, the cases fluctuate higher daily, and concerns begin to arise. Is it an issue of police brutality, or is there an underlying unsolved matter between the whites and blacks? We look at a set of newspapers in the USA and Canada on police brutality to review this matter.

There arises an issue after the grand jury declared that no criminal charges would be brought against the Rochester officers who possibly caused Daniel Prude’s death by restraining him (Schuhmacher, 2021). The Black community expressed utmost anger, taking to the streets. They gathered at Jefferson Avenue and Samuel McCree Way, where Prude had encountered the police (Schuhmacher, 2021). Protestors expressed frustration with the Rochester Police Department and the jury’s decision. These protests follow similar findings of Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor (Schuhmacher, 2021).

Breonna Taylor was a black social worker who was raided and shot to death by the police (Oppel, 2021). The jury placed no charges on the Louisville two police officers who fired the shot. However, the best action taken against them was firing. Residents protested around the late Miss Taylor’s apartment, demanding justice for her fell on deaf ears.

A similar tension was experienced in the shooting of Mr. Blake, a black man, by a white officer. Mr. Blake was left paralyzed from the waist downwards after being shot severely on the back (News, 2021). Kenosha’s police action was ruled as a self-defense strategy by the Kenosha County District Attorney (News, 2021).

Conclusion

Racial issues have been a trend in regions of mixed races, especially black-white racial disparities. Most of the time, police brutality happens; the ruling occurs in favor of the whites. A factor of contemplation, are racial issues in the states and Canada coming up again?
