ART CRITICISM; DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS
DESCRIPTION
The artist Hridni Mishra, 2018 uses the Mystique half portrait art of a woman’s picture and uses acrylic as the medium while paints and oil substance are the supporting materials. The woman has closed her eyes while touching her chin with her fingers. There is a frog at the top left corner sitting on a black tree stump. There is a red and yellow color on top. The frog has green, yellow, and blue colors. Red flowers surround the woman’s body. A bright illuminating color on the other side of the woman’s face is present.
.
The woman’s lips are red. The frog is staring at her. She has blue colors on her hair which is brownish. She is naked and is on a river taking a bath. She has patches of yellow color on her hand. Her closed eyelids have a blue color. The tree stump on which the frog is sitting is in the water.
ANALYSIS
The value of her hair is blown due to the addition of red and blue colors. This value of colors gives a smooth texture. The red color next to the frog, the frog’s yellow and green color, is in their purest form due to saturation. The frog is resting on top of a tree stump giving it balance. The frog is in contrast giving us an open space between it and the woman’s face. The artist uses an exaggerating scale of the frog, which looks larger, to capture our attention.
The author uses a variety of colors to bring different expressions. The red flowers show beauty and love. The green color of the frog is used to show nature. The unity of different colored flowers, the naked woman in the water, and the frog indicates beauty in animals and plants since they complement each other. The author uses various items like flowers, water, tree stump, leaves, frog, and woman’s image, which brings the feeling or mood of calmness in nature.
