Good health is the root of all successes’, from economic prosperity, political stability, and unity; therefore, it is essential to perpetuating our health through health promotion. Health promotion is the approach of improving societies and individuals’ health (Duplaga et al., 2016). This study aims to discuss the primary health promotion areas for adults and the advantages of promoting health in adults.

Firstly, dieting and exercising are the paramount primary health-promoting behaviors in adults. Proper nutrition and regular physical activity are considered the first defensive mechanism in the fight against obesity and cardiovascular diseases, respectively. The sedentary lifestyle with an adults-for example- spending most of their time sitting down and watching television and the high consumption of fast foods is quite hazardous as it complemented with terminal illnesses. The American Heart Association’s recommendations were to take a diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low fats and sugars, and 75 minutes of intense exercises per week (Ross et al., 2017). Therefore, dieting and exercising are essential in adults’ health promotion by eradicating obesity and cardiovascular diseases, thus maintaining a high mortality rate.

Secondly, stress management is another health promotion topic in adults. The high demands and low control in an adults’ life may contribute to chronic stress. Chronic stress leads to increased consumption of junk foods which causes weight gain, abdominal adiposity, and obesity (Ross et al., 2017). Also, prolonged stress contributes to smoking and alcohol consumption (Ross et al., 2017). However, adults who exercise regularly, sleep adequately, and engage a counselor can manage their life situation, thus reduce burnout and stress. Stress management in adults is essential as it enables them to balance all life activities, thus a health promotion behavior.

Lastly, sleep hygiene is an essential topic in health promotion in adults. The importance of getting adequate sleep is consistently underestimated. A consistent link between sleep deprivation and obesity, malfunction of the health system, and less memory processing is witnessed (Ross et al., 2017). Adequate amounts of high-quality sleep are essential for the human mind and body to be vigilant in day-to-day activities. Sleep hygiene in adults is crucial as it balances the human body activities, thus reducing health promotion.
