Organizational Behavior is used in organizations to study and analyze human Behavior within the company, the relationship between human and the company, and the organization itself. In general, organizational behaviour researchers’ objective is to evaluate and compare individuals’ behaviour and the organization’s set goals. One of the primary purposes of organizational Behavior within a company is to regenerate organizational theory to develop an adequate conceptualization of company life. As a multidisciplinary field of study, organizational Behavior has also influenced several other related disciplines such as economics and sociology. Organization Behavior also plays the role of studying human Behavior in the different work environment and determines its impact on crucial sectors such as job structure, motivation and communication.
Organizations ensure that Organizational Behavior is effectively controlled and managed by the human resource department. It facilitates better management in every department within the organization and increases its human capital value. Effective control and increase in the value of human capital are achieved after the company evaluates and understands why individuals within the organization behave differently and study people’s complex nature in the organization. Organization Behavior is further characterized as a particular field of study but not as a discipline only, which means that it has a multi-interdisciplinary orientation and, therefore, based on a general theoretical background (Rousseau, 2010). Humanistic and Optimistic also characterize Organizational Behavior in the process of dealing with different employees within the company. This further explains that organizational behaviour deals with the thinking and the feel of human beings. Further research proves that Organizational Behavior is based on the belief that individuals have a unique characteristic to desire, be creative, and be productive to the organization.
Organizational Behavior plays a different role within the organization as an effective leader, which includes understanding the overall performance and Behavior of human beings since companies are generally made up of people. Without the presence of people, organizations cannot exist or operate. Therefore, if the managers of different departments within the organization understand the company’s basic concepts, they must first understand the people who make up the organization. Therefore, departmental managers use organizational behaviour to understand human Behavior in all directions in which the people interact (Redmon, 2013). The human Behavior of an organization can be studied under the perspective of individual and interpersonal Behavior. Under individual Behavior, the main focus is to study the overall Behavior of an individual within the organization, which is achieved by analyzing why and how an individual behaves in a particular way. On the other hand, interpersonal behaviour provides effective means for an organization to understand the company’s interpersonal behaviour.
Influencing Human Behavior is also another role played by Organizational Behavior as an effective leader with the organization, this usually focuses on ho managers can influence the Behavior of employees through the implementation of effective strategies in control and direction. After departmental managers understand the nature of human behaviour, the managers’ next task is to critically understand how to influence employees’ behaviour to achieve the set goals and objectives (Campbell, 2018). Therefore, this role evaluates, analyses, and conforms to the required standards to achieve the set goals and objectives by influencing individuals to work hard towards the set goals and objectives. Organization Behavior helps department and senior managers to control the Behavior using leadership and communication strategies. Leadership plays a vital role in managing an organization to bring human Behavior in tune with its requirements. This means that a company must have effective leadership to facilitate its survival within the market and improve its growth, which will help the organization achieve a competitive advantage over its competitors. Communication within the organization will also allow employees and third parties to contact each other, improving the building block.
The other role that organizational behaviour will play as an effective leader is improving labour relations between the organization and employees. This will be achieved since Organization Behavior helps the human resource manager and the organization understand the cause of the problem, predict its future course to the company’s overall performance, and recommend practical and proven strategies to control its consequences in the future. This will ensure that problems related to labour and risk are entirely eliminated, saving on cost and improving the image of the organization as a result of competitive advantage over competitors operating in the same geographical area (Fairbank, 3 (1), 1-16). As a result, departmental managers will maintain and control relations with their employees after eliminating any problem or risk related to labour. In return, this will enhance a conducive working condition and teamwork within the organization, which will work towards achieving organizational goals and objectives set in every department within the organization.
As an effective leader, Organizational Behavior also plays the role of ensuring effective utilization of organization scarce resources set to achieve a set profit or gross profit margin. Therefore, as an effective leader, it’s organizational behaviour’s responsibility to provide adequate and accurate information to help managers and CEOs effectively and efficiently manage their employees to work toward set goals and objectives. Organizational Behavior will also play the role of inspiring and motivating employees to higher efficiency and productivity levels, which will be achieved by better understanding and analyzing interpersonal and individual Behavior (Cropanzano, 2015). Effective utilization of scarce resources will help the organization save on extra costs related to material run out and reduce the prices of finished products in favor of potential customers. This will lead to an increase in the consumption of finished products manufactured, leading to a rise in profit and a competitive advantage over competitors.
Understanding both monetary and non-monetary strategies of motivating employees within an organization will also be a role by played Organization Behavior as an effective leader, which will be achieved after critically understanding employees’ behaviour and how to influence the same employee working at different levels of an organization. Therefore, Organizational Behavior helps departmental managers understand, evaluate, and analyze their employees’ needs and motivate them. Motivating employees plays a significant role in every organization in the achievement of set goals and objectives since after employees are encouraged, they are willing to implement effective strategies such as teamwork and enhancing a conducive working environment to work towards the set goals and objectives (Lin, 2015). After managers apply different motivational tools that include monetary and non-monetary to fulfil the desires, wants, and needs of employees, there will be an increase in the organization’s overall performance. The increase in the organization’s overall performance will lead to a rise in profit after utilization of scarce resources to achieve the set goals and objectives within a certain period.
Organizational Behavior plays a vital role in increasing performance in each department within the organization. This ensures that there is an effective inter-departmental relationship that works towards the same goals of an organization. Some of the factors that are implemented by Organizational Behavior as an effective leader within the organization include a positive attitude, which increases creativity and innovation. Creativity and design with the organization lead to an improvement in the manufacturing process in developing more efficient and modern machines that produce high-quality products within a short period, saving on costs and time (Trice, 2017). On the other hand, innovation leads to the development of unique products, which fills the gap within the market, creating a competitive advantage over competitors and a good image of the company. Departmental managers also increase performance by improving employees’ working conditions to be more conducive, which favours the employees. Elimination of communication barriers and conflict of interest by Organizational Behavior as an effective leader also increases the organization’s performance level.
In summation, an organization needs to implement and enhance Organizationalorganisational behaviour since it plays a vital role in achieving set organizational goals. As an effective leader, Organization Behavior helps managers understand the relationship between potential employees and the concerned organization, which ensures a strong relationship established within the company. Understanding human behaviour provides accurate, adequate and acts as an analysis ground that organizations can use to understand the best strategies, whether monetary or non-monetary, to motivate individuals. Effective communication and relationships between managers and employees ensure the effective utilization of scarce resources to achieve a specific profit within a specified period. Therefore, for an organization to be competitive and productive within the market, its necessary to implement an effective Organizational Behavior.
