Private security

Private security refers to the organizational efforts and measures that protect property and persons (Smith et al., 2016). It also involves self-employed individuals who are privately funded to offer security services to individuals or organizations.

  1. Most of the railroad police did not have their police and experienced undercover who would do undercover work and conduct investigations. As losses mounted, the railroad came up with a strategy to protect themselves against criminals (Smith et al., 2016). They hired contractors to protect their luggage and also conduct investigations on the losses to freight. These contractors used men and women to eliminate criminal activities from railroads. This gave rise to private security, which is today’s initiated by many security companies.
  2.  Professional private security must achieve the following to receive societal acceptance.
  1. Despite public law enforcement and private security, having similarities, private security has been lacking professional status (Smith et al., 2016). More experienced security offices have been deployed, thus improving the private security in offering its services. Many retired public law enforcers have started private security firms, thus boosting their relationship with public officers. These retired officers have more knowledge of security, thus ensuring that private security officers are well equipped with knowledge and skills.

For the past couple of years, private security has been characterized by professionalism, evidenced in many security firms (Smith et al., 2016). It is essential to learn the private security is crucial in ensuring personal properties are protected, and security is boosted in a country. Therefore, this guarantees the elimination of criminal activities, which are a threat to security, thus acquiring a favorable environment for individuals interested in joining police forces as a career.
