Introduction

Generally, talking about the complexities of obesity is not an easy task primarily because lots of people are significantly being affected by this disease as a result of excessive body fat. Because of this, many people ultimately seek for professional advice to find substantial ways of averting obesity. Paradoxically, the effect is generated towards poor families with inadequate venues, coexisting undernutrition, and inadequate venues.  The significance of obesity is vitally based upon the comorbidities of behavioral approaches for a large group of people.  In light of this, this paper is going to thoroughly talk about obesity as a fundamental social problem affecting the majority of people. With social imagination in place, I principally view people’s daily routines from a third perspective, while anticipating for the awareness of obesity to understand the developing historical scene terms.

Functionalism

With relation to obesity, the functionalist perspectives posit that effective medical care and health are significant for the development of society. That said, obesity is a predominant disease that ultimately results from the intake of personal diet, exercise choices, and the environment, upon which relies upon the development of the workability of the society.  When this evidently happens, the ability to undertake different societal roles is affected by the impairment caused by obesity primarily because the significance unhealthiness of too many obese people escalates for societal dysfunction and stability.  This is because societies are embodied as different functioning organisms with organs put in place to sustain the overall social equilibrium.

Classical Conflict Theory

The contemporary society is often in a perpetual conflict state due to the existence of limited resources such as food.  The system of material production, and in this case, food, ultimately affects the society’s value system. With regard to the obesity epidemic, a distinct far-reaching social modification on the food production scale is needed to account for various health-related problems. Why? Health conflict significantly affects the magnitude and direction of social change.
