As a result of attending digital marketing online classes, I have learnt some of the useful tips that I can apply to manage a digital marketing campaign. Studying online was very interesting because it was easier to access the appropriate examples of successful companies that use mobile devices, the internet, and social media to have proper access to their customers. In the digital marketing course’s initial stages, I learned the appropriate tips to apply before getting involved in digital marketing management.

            Self-analysis.

Before going through the digital marketing classes, I had a negative attitude towards online learning, especially in complex courses such as digital marketing. However, I decided to change my mind and be part of the online digital marketing class to experiment if it could work. The online course in digital marketing is relevant to my development plan because I am currently in a proper position to promote a successful digital marketing solution.

Analysis of learning.

I learnt that the critical factor that should be put into focus in digital marketing management is choosing a marketing approach. Digital marketing management does not require to be conducted by following a single system because it is extensive and needs multichannel strategies (Digital marketing plan, 572). By applying multichannel approaches in digital marketing, different media’s power is synergized to achieve more success. I learned that social media marketing is the fundamental digital marketing approach that most companies apply.

Application in context.

I can apply the social media digital marketing approach by engaging with my friends, partners, business competitors, and followers about my business and focusing primarily on product promotion. The digital marketing concept about social media’s primary significance in digital marketing of providing platforms that business people can utilize to increase awareness about their products and brands are linked to my previous learning about product promotion. The importance of the link between my prior knowledge about product promotion and the concepts acquired from the digital marketing classes enable me to focus on applying unique social networks in marketing to attain more success by using different social media platforms. Various social networks particularly favour unique situations, products, and content.

Evaluation.

The critical factor learnt from the digital marketing online class to consider is enhancing the awareness about a particular brand according to the available digital space and be in a better position to control website traffic. My learning experiences in business management were adequate because they enabled me to learn better ways of improving my business practices through digital marketing.

Reconstruct self-concept.

I can utilize the knowledge I acquired about digital marketing to help business organizations have quick access to broader markets by developing proper research and flexible means of reaching their potential customers.

 

Action.

So far, I have applied the knowledge acquired from the digital marketing online classes to help business organizations that carry out digital marketing to start building and marketing their brands on social media. I have also been trying to create my brand on social media, and currently, I have a page on Facebook that is connected to my Instagram account which has so far attracted a few numbers of people. I have also been putting efforts in emphasizing the significant role of digital marketing managers which is to effectively take care of the digital marketing initiatives applied in promoting services and products in their business organizations.

  1. The founder (movie)

Description

The most inspiring event that I experienced in the Founder movie was when a character called Ray was preparing a speech to praise himself for his business success. My role was to learn basic business concepts from watching the Founder movie, which is relevant for business students to improve their techniques of handling business activities like digital marketing.

Self-analysis.

Before watching the Founder movie, I assumed that movies were only meant for entertainment. The reason behind my assumptions was because I was used to watching horror and action movies that were less educative. I, therefore, decided to take part in watching the Founder movie to entertain myself. After watching the Founder movie, I realized that it was important for my development plan because it had a lot of lessons that can guide business-minded people.

Analysis of learning.

From the movie, I learnt that success through perseverance is an excellent point to weigh and make appropriate choices as a business person. Talents and work ethics also play significant roles in enabling business organizations to achieve their desired success, but they are all in vain without persistence. Persistence empowers an individual to have an all-consuming vision that he pursues at all costs, no matter the challenges he faces along the way. It is only through persistence that a business-minded person can build his inner confidence about his ability to adapt and adjust to different situations in business practice.

Application in context

The concept learnt from Ray’s speech that talent or strong work ethics are not enough for a person to achieve business success is linked to my previous knowledge about how a business person is required to adapt to different circumstances. The connection between Ray’s speech and my prior understanding is that they all emphasize persistence.

            Evaluation

The experiences from watching the Founder movie were good for business people, and I agreed with all that Ray stated in his speech. Throughout the Founder movie, Ray experiences a lot of challenges in sustaining his business. Still, he is persistent enough to continue pushing himself until he can achieve what he desired (The founder). Ray started as a salesman dealing with a travelling milkshake machine, which was able to sustain him and his wife. What I concluded from the movie was that through Ray and his wife supporting each other, they were able to do a lot of savings that helped them to achieve further growth in business.

Reconstruct self-concept

From Ray’s speech, the key point that I picked, which I can use to change my business perspectives was, his business success was not based on talents or business ethics. Ray’s persistence made him achieve significant growth. Persistent people get their inspiration from their role models who guide and mentor them with their success in the same way the McDonald brothers inspired Ray in the Founder movie.

            Action.

I will apply the knowledge acquired from watching the Founder movie. In digital marketing, where persistence is a crucial factor to consider because it involves a lot of focus and determination. Digital marketing starts by building a long-term business brand that customers can recognize and appreciate. Building a reputable brand is not easy because it requires many followers, partners, and friends who enjoy the brand. After creating a business brand, one has to continually engage his audience, which takes a lot of time and commitment. Therefore, without persistence, it is impossible to apply digital marketing in a particular business.

  1. Creative thinking (Online course)

Description

I got the opportunity of enrolling in an online course in digital marketing, and the experience was good to boost my creativity. As a learner, my role was to keenly observe all that was being taught and do my research to get a broader perspective of creativity. My fellow learners also supported me in doing more research in the areas that I needed assistance.

Self-analysis

Before taking part in the online course about creativity, I did not know that creativity is a vast discipline that is contributed by a lot of concepts. The reason why I assumed that creativity was not a broad discipline was that I knew that everybody was created with creative minds but what mattered was how they utilized their creativity.  The online course on creativity is relevant for my development plan because creativity should be part and parcel of every business person.

Analysis of learning

From the activity of going through an online course in creative thinking, I have been able to appreciate that every individual was created with a creative potential, which once expressed, a person can make significant contributions to the world. Creative thinking enables people in different sectors such as business, health, and education to have fresh perspectives on dealing with the problems they encounter.

Application in context

The lessons learnt from the online course on creativity are linked to my previous knowledge concerning the digital marketing theme whereby, creative thinking is one of the practical tools that business people can utilize to initiate appropriate marketing methods. In ancient times, before the internet came about, creativity was embraced in all the marketing strategies that were applied because of competitiveness (Mumford et al., 7). As a business person, my choice of an appropriate social media platform and marketing approach depends on my creativity. The creativity that I apply in choosing a particular digital marketing technique should be based on the identified developing issues and challenges affecting my business activities.

Evaluation

A proper design of a particular business organization’s brand through creativity can attract and retain more customers because people tend to associate themselves with pretty things. Because creativity plays an essential role in designing business brands, it is necessary to incorporate every stakeholder’s creative ideas to develop the most innovative and appealing brand in a particular business organization (Upgrading digital marketing strategy, 57).

 

 

            Reconstruct self-concept

My knowledge about boosting creativity can help me contribute to some significant changes in the processes of creating business brands and choosing digital marketing platforms. In creating a business brand or selecting a specific digital marketing platform to reach customers effectively, I will apply creativity to enable the business organizations that I work for to outshine their competitors by making a long-lasting impact in the market.

Action

So far, I have applied the concepts learnt about creativity to help some business organizations to design their business logos in unique ways that adhere to their brand. The reason why I have put my primary focus on proper designing of business brands is that the first impression that customers have about a particular business significantly matters. However, the significant challenges that have made my actions of applying creativity in designing business brands less effective are lack of enough funds and difficulty in convincing some business organizations about the positive impacts of a good business brand.

  1. How to write a marketing plan

Description

In the process of learning about digital marketing, I also had to do an online course in writing marketing plans. The experience of learning about writing marketing plans was not good for me because I was straining to do many things at once, which I wanted to succeed in. As a student, my role was to follow the instructions provided by the facilitator and read books that talked about marketing. The purpose of learning how to write marketing plans was to guide me in writing digital marketing plans in my future business career.

Self-analysis

Before getting involved in the online class of writing marketing plans, I was reluctant in enrolling in another online course because I knew that the pressure that I was in as a result of my overwhelming career could not allow me to take part in any other activity. However, I decided to take part in the online classes about marketing plans to finish it earlier so that I would not be forced to do so later on at the peak of my career. The course was also relevant for my development plan because I wanted to venture into digital marketing widely.

Analysis of learning.

From my participation in the online course about writing marketing plans, I learnt that the activities involved in writing proper marketing plans were also significant for learning about digital marketing plans. In writing a marketing plan, the first step that needs to be applied in preparing a mission statement. The mission statement outlines a summary of the values and goals of a particular company. The second step involved in writing a market plan is creating a list of the targeted markets (How to write a marketing plan, 151). After making a list of the targeted markets, the next step of writing a marketing plan is a description of a particular company’s services. The final stages followed in writing marketing plans are spelling of the promotional strategies, identifying competitors, and establishing quantifiable goals in marketing.

Application in context

The steps applied in writing marketing plans in business organizations are closely related to my previous knowledge about planning the appropriate steps to take in digital marketing. As the initial stage of writing a marketing plan by preparing a mission statement, the first step in writing digital marketing plans involves proper definitions of business brands.

 

 

            Evaluation

The descriptions of business brands should be unique because business brands are created according to organizations’ different goals and values. In writing digital marketing plans, it is essential to identify the targeted customers and markets. This step of identifying potential customers and markets is similar to the second step applied in writing market plans (Baverstock & Susannah, 139). A digital marketing plan cannot be outlined without developing the appropriate goals that it should work to attain. After coming up with the digital marketing goals, the final steps in writing digital marketing plans include; choosing marketing methods to apply, budget setting, and measurement results.

Reconstruct self-concept

The significant change that I can make as a result of learning the appropriate ways of writing marketing plans is to incorporate a previous marketing plan when structuring a new one. This is because the previous marketing plan applied in a business organization can be used as a proper guide to avoid mistakes when structuring a new one.

Action

Currently, I apply the concepts that I acquired from my enrollment in an online course about writing marketing plans to guide the business organizations that I am associated with to apply proper planning initiatives in their marketing structures. Through my efforts, the business organizations that I work with have developed better ways of attracting more markets through digital marketing techniques.

Reading Hanlon digital marketing book.

            Description

The most exciting activity in learning about digital marketing was reading Hanlon’s book that widely talks about digital marketing. The experience was engaging because I love reading books written from individuals’ points of view. After all, they boost my level of understanding of a particular topic. My role was to read the book keenly and understand all that Hanlon was talking about digital marketing.

Self-analysis.

Before reading Hanlon’s book about digital marketing, I was eager to know how writers can express their ideas about business topics like digital marketing in their books. Due to my eagerness, I decided to read the book. My experience of reading Hanlon’s book was significant for my development plan because, in the entire book, she expresses educative business concepts.

Analysis of learning.

As a result of reading the book, I learned about a wide range of tools that I need to apply in my digital marketing strategies and planning (Hanlon, 35). Hanlon describes the latest digital marketing models in her book as free from any prejudice or favour because she states things as they are.

Application in context

Hanlon’s book provided me with adequate information about the different types of digital marketing that I can consider depending on my business’s nature, the issues that digital marketing revolves around, and the appropriate roadmap to follow in choosing a particular digital marketing approach for my business. Hanlon’s information about digital marketing conquers with my previous knowledge about digital marketing through the marketing models that she describes.

            Evaluation

            From the activity of reading Hanlon’s book, which is centred on the digital marketing theme, I collected a wide range of information to apply in my business when developing a digital marketing initiative. According to Hanlon, the world is becoming more digitalized due to technological advancement (Hanlon, 23). Therefore, the possibility of increased facilitation of activities using technical devices and media is becoming higher with the progress of time which I agree with. Therefore, as a business person, I have to restructure my previous beliefs about digital marketing to be per modern developments.

Reconstruct self-concept

The change that I can make as a result of reading Hanlon’s book about digital marketing is to help people in their processes of starting careers in digital marketing. My emphasis on them will be on their responsibilities of creating online presences, knowing the trending market developments, and fully applying creativity. It is also vital for me to teach the individuals venturing into digital marketing to acquire some experience from their mentors, network properly with others, have a positive attitude towards winning and learn the basic things about analytics.

Action

I applied Hanlon’s concept of choosing the appropriate approach in the various business organizations that I have worked with so far. I have helped them the business organizations to choose digital marketing approaches that adhere to their business structures, target markets and competition. All my efforts of putting into practice whatever I learnt from Hanlon worked for the business organizations that I supported. My plan for applying Hanlon’s digital marketing concepts is to run my business organization effectively successfully.
