Human Resource Discussion
How do you manage human resources in a global technological environment?
Lately, organizations have adopted the use of technology in all functional facets. Managing human potential in the organization is essential since employees determine the specific changes in an organization. The human resource department needs to offer educational and training programs to the human capital in the firm to enhance personal development (Peter & Engberg, 2015). This would be an essential tool in strategic HRM, which seeks to link people with the organization strategically. Strategic HRM facilitates the effective management of human resources, increased employee performance, and improved organizational productivity.
How can an organization be strategic with their most valuable resource- their people?
Human resource managers (HRM) are mandated with the role of managing people within the employer-employee relationship. This involves the use of human resources in achieving the strategic corporate objectives that lead to employee satisfaction and organizational productivity. HRM functions include recruitment, compensation, training, career development, ensuring environmental safety, and succession planning (Mamoudou & Joshi, 2014). Strategic HRM aims to align the HR practices, policies, and programs in the firm with the corporate and strategic business plans. Strategic HRM connects the corporate strategy with the HRM hence promoting the integration of HR within the functions of the organization. This offers the organization a competitive advantage against other firms by developing unique HRM systems that cannot be imitated by other organizations.
