Importance of The Current Program to My Profession
It is a dream of every person either in the job market, self-employed, or working in any other specified place to one-day move from the current job level to a better position. Currently, I am an orthopedic Registered Nurse who deals with patients from surgery. Under this docket, I majorly care for patients who have undergone surgeries related to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. The human body consists of over 200 bones that assist us in movement (Kitson, 2018). Since this a very delicate area, my profession requires me always to offer top-notch services to ensure that I bring back good health to my patients. Therefore, my dream is to become a nurse who every patient in the hospital would long for her services.
As a nurse, I have many tasks ahead; thus, I require high-quality training from qualified and experienced experts who could make me grounded and offer the best assists to the community. As a Registered Nurse, my services are not tied to my place of work only, at any point, I may be required to offer my services, either to my family members, neighbors, or within the streets. Therefore, I must be well equipped with theories and requirements to undertake these tasks (Gabbert, 2020). Therefore, I believe my current program is the best area for me to acquire all these and meet my professional dreams.
Having gone through the course outline and read over several documents related to this program, I am much contented that it will help me grow into a better nurse. When I started my job, I had a lot of fear, I was never sure of what I am doing, but I have always had the zeal to learn and get better daily. Through this program, I have always learned that as a nurse, I should always be sure of the services I offer, I should not fumble with any single directive I offer since I deal directly with a patient (Kitson, 2018). Therefore, the entire community’s life depends on the care I offer; thus, this program is continually molding me into not just a nurse but a passionate person over my job.
When I first began my orthopedic nursing career, I almost lost my work morale since I could meet patients who have a worse condition that I believed I could never guide to recovery. However, I carried on with the that it is what I earn a living from. However, since I began this nursing, the few classes I have attended, and the interactions I have heard from my classmates and professors, I have learned that I require passion and not desire for money to succeed in this field. Before I think for payment, I have already learned that I should focus on how to save a life (Kitson, 2018). Through this program, I am continually learning that I should commit to building a healthy relationship between my patients, creating a favorable working environment.
Through my learning process, I have encountered books from one of the famous nursing theorist called Nightingale. In explaining nursing theories, Nightingale said that nursing requires the provision of fresh air, warmth, cleanliness, good diet, and silence to facilitate the patient’s reparative process (Peiritsch, 2017). Therefore, these are some of the new philosophies and experiences that I have learned so far from the program; I believe I will learn more. This is the best place for me to develop as a more experienced nurse since it offers me different opportunities to work as an intern in some of the best hospitals under experienced orthopedic surgeons. The program helps me grow more courageous and handle patients from different beliefs, cultures, norms, races, and ethnicities.
