‘A beautiful film’ is a movie produced in the year 2001

‘A beautiful film’ is a movie produced in the year 2001; it’s popularly referred to as a beautiful mind. The film is based on the character Josh Nash; the film relates to his mental illness and is directed by Ron Howard. The movie was based and inspired by the book ‘a beautiful mind’ that was produced in the year 1988. The film revolves in the life of Nash since it begins during his life at the University. He is noted to have a condition called paranoid Schizophrenia and goes through dilutions that make his life very uncomfortable. In this writing, the discussion will be based on the movie, the symptoms of the disease, among other issues.

The movie starts showing the life of Josh, who is a student at Princeton University. The character has the assumption that education is just a waste of time; hence, he considers lectures useless. As the plot develops, the viewer can notice that he is a loner and an introvert. The character is always seen fiddling with his forehead and which make one think he is nervous. Although the movie concludes the individual that he was a successful mathematician, he goes through a mental illness. Before the condition became severe Nash did notice early symptoms, and the disease had become critical. The sickness became critical when he started seeing people who do not exist. He had no clue that his life was somehow bizarre before developing symptoms. His life is made up of instances where he talks to characters that were are as real to him as his wife. His wife was pregnant during the discovery of illness, and she stands with him during this period.

After concerns Alicia took her husband, she takes him to a psychiatric therapy that is run by Dr. Rosen. The wife talks of the illusion character that her husband had been speaking about. She tells her that Parcher and Charles only exist in the brain of Nash. Alicia doesn’t buy the idea that her husband has illness till he finds him in his office doing something un-thought off. Nash had brought a drop box that contained unused missiles that surely convinced Alicia all is not well. She takes her husband to seek medications and the therapy makes Nash lethargic. The condition was serious since the Nash was told by Parcher to kill his beloved wife. Alicia stood with Nash during his illness since she found a way to live with his condition. He makes improvements since he makes a come back to his teaching profession however, there are instances he sees his illusional friends. The film well depicts the characteristics of Paranoid Schizophrenia and this is confirmed by Rosen who is a professional.

The disease in severe and deserves to be taken with seriousness. The symptoms include, seeing hearing and tasting things that do not exists. Secondly, the patient grows in fear and is suspicious of those around him. Thirdly, the person suffering from it has persistent and unusual beliefs that characterize his life. The patient also suffers from him being unable thinking straight and withdraws from family and friends. There are various medications that a therapist can recommend to the affected. Mostly therapists can give medicine known as antipsychotic medication that can be taken as a pill, injected or taken in as a patch. If a patient rejects medicine he can be given long term medicine that can eliminate this problem. The disease is severe as the writing had seen since the affected may not know he has changed his behaviour. These issues are called anosanosognosiadefined as the inability to notice and have insights that you are suffering from a disease. This may make one to stop taking medicine prescribed to him by a specialist. This was illustrated by the writing since it was found that Nash has stopped taking medication. Antipsychotic medication is effective since it deals with the positive issues associated with the disease. However, the medication does not effectively deal with the negative symptoms. The medication also is associated with some side effects; they include weight gain, vomiting drossiness, low blood pressure among other issues.

Secondly, there is psychotherapy and plays a vital role in the treatment of the disease. Specialists advocate for cognitive behavioural therapy since it helps a patient develop and retain social skills. The therapy also deals with comorbid therapy and depression symptoms. There are patients that go through trauma and this medication helps deals with this issue. The therapists can also help the patient to improve relationships with family and friends till one gets better. Thirdly, there is team care popularly referred to as coordinated specialty care (CSC); the process has been successful in the past and has been advocated by specialists. The process includes a team of professions that offer counselling family support and education, medical management among other useful aspects. In severe cases that the affected may have the specialist may ask the patient to be hospitalized.

Hospitalization is essential since it helps to keep the patient safe, provides him with the right nutrition and keeps an eye on his sleep. The specialists may also seek partial hospitalization for them to follow up. Finally, there is creation of a bond with the family and friends around him. People may underestimate the output of the process but it is effective. Family and friends is the only people around the patient and they can follow the progress and can give insights to the doctor.

Before advocating for any type of medication the doctor may seek some issues relating to the patient like in the case of Nash. The doctor may ask of the history of the patient from him or her and the family. The doctor may also carry out blood tests that may rule issues like thyroid dysfunction, alcoholism and drug abuse. The doctor can also carry out an MRI or CT scan that may reveal abnormalities with the brain. The doctor can also seek psychological evaluation.

The film showed an altitude change relating to the disease. To begin with Alice is not convinced that her husband is suffering from a mental illness. After the doctor finds her husband with Schizophrenia she opposes the view and thinks it is something else. She accepts the conditions after her husband starts behaving weirdly like when she finds a drop box containing unused missiles. Alice begins caring for her husbands and takes the illness with the weight it deserves. Her positive altitude of her staying with her husband and caring for him was vital since it eventually leads to his recovery. Positive altitude change is essential since people able to take care of the affected and he or she can recover. The process of recovery is very challenging since the patients may be uncontrollable and may elicit anger to family and friends. The movie showed a case where Nash was told by one of his imaginary friend to kill his wife. Her wife proves a vital point that family and friends should learn; the process is delicate and desires dedication to change the life of the affected. The film greatly impacted my altitude since I noted that recovery process for mental patient is very challenging and deserves participation.

In conclusion the writing has discusses issues relating to Schizophrenia, family dynamics and other issues associated with the illness. The discussion began with the movie and how the affected does not notice he is suffering from something serious. His wife took him to a specialist and where she learns of his conditions though she does not accept. Alice sticks with her husband through the troubling process and helps him recover. His recovering was stressful to his wife since she is expectant and the wife is cautious since Nash desired to kill her. The second part of the discussion saw symptoms of the disease and which some were in the movie. The third part discussed on the treatment and the diagnosis part of the treatment. This part the writing related the treatment and diagnosis part to the movie and which the discussion saw it was very vital and delicate. The illness is very severe since it may require the affected to be hospitalized. Finally, the discussion looked at needs for altitudinal changes to the affected and how it helps in recovering process.
