A good example of interoperability
Agnostic services are services that provide multi-purpose logic with reusable potential. The reason for not positioning agnostic services to not to belong to anyone business process is that they are generic in nature and so the association of these services to one type of business process would not let the agnostic service serve its true purpose. In the Information technology world, these agnostic services are said to be services that help in achieving interoperability among various systems. A good example of interoperability is when two devices like mobile phones from different manufacturers are able to connect and communicate efficiently because they follow a certain defined set of standards.
Standardization in business is the act of establishing best-practice of how to carry out a process and making sure that the entire organization or institution follows it. For example in a software Development Company, standardizing a software solution can benefit the company by improving its security, productivity and ensuring there is better collaboration within it (Robert, 2003). It also ensures there is a reduced risk to non-compliance and also lowering maintenance and support costs. So to our question, Yes, standardization should be achieved throughout the enterprise because this would lead to a basic generalized process throughout the enterprise and this would ultimately remove the need to understand and comprehend the various steps of the process at various levels (because the whole and each step have been standardized).
