A Memorable Summer Vacation
I have always enjoyed the summer when school is on break, and we get to go on vacation. In the past, I have spent most of my summer vacations with friends. We usually go on trips, engage in parties, or go to the beach. However, at other times, I get to spend my summer vacations with my family and close relatives. On these occasions, we usually take a family trip out of town for some fun family activities. While vacations with my friends are always fun and extreme, I usually enjoy my family vacations more as we spend quality time together. The experience of summer vacation helps in unwinding from a school semester, bonding with family and friends, and provides great mental relief.
Looking back, one of my favorite summer vacations was a recent trip to the Lakedale Resort at Three Lakes, Washington, with my family. The vacation included many activities that were perfect for the whole family. These activities included camping in the woods outside our log cabin, trout fishing, canoeing, bird watching, hiking in the nature trails, and swimming in the surrounding lakes. The resort is located on San Juan island that is between Friday and Roche harbors. Therefore, the resort offers a great gate-away from the normal hustle and bustle of the city. I especially liked this summer vacation as the natural outdoor environment provided a cool and relaxing space to unwind from the stress of the previous school semester.
I must admit, the excitement on this particular summer vacation started way before we arrived at our reserved lakeside log cabin. The ferry ride to the resort was a great experience for my cousin and me, two free-spirited youth who enjoy the great outdoors. On the second day after our arrival, we started the day with an early morning hike on one of the trails near our lake house, later went out swimming in the lake, and camped out in the evening outside our cabin. This turned out to be a common schedule for most of our days at the resort. On the other hand, my dad usually enjoyed going out fishing on the lake while reading his book. On her part, my mum enjoyed lounging on the deck of the lake house reading a book. Sometimes, we joined dad in his fishing expeditions but always managed to frustrate him as we lacked the patience for fishing.
The vacation offered us a great opportunity to bond as a family as we sometimes engaged in some group activities. At one time, we rented some canoes and went out canoeing in the lake. The canoe experience was quite fun as we kept rolling over and falling into the lake. In the evening, we sat around the cabin fireplace and shared fun stories about the day. We also got to enjoy some birdwatching in the forest. As luck would have it, a music festival took place during our stay at the resort, and we got to enjoy some great music and dancing. Overall, this vacation offered great mental relief as I managed to kick back, relax, and forget the stress of everyday life.
Vacations offer a great outlet for unwinding from schoolwork, bonding with family, and getting mental relief. One of my favorite summer vacations was the trip to the Lakedale Resort at Three Lakes, Washington. During the vacation, I got to enjoy a lot of fun activities while having some quality time with my family. The natural outdoors offered a great escape to the usual hustle and bustle of city life and provided great mental relief. I look forward to the next summer break and hope to have a similarly great vacation.
