“A Palestinian Perspective: Biblical Perspectives on the Land” (p. 273-282)
The perspective according to the Palestinians speaks of a bigger understanding of the lad and the native people. Naim Ateek an Arab and a Palestinian Christian is a citizen in Israel and also a theology employs freedom hermeneutic to solve the issues of land Palestine’s underwent. During a war that occurred in 1967 Israel’s state progressively became a religion’s servant and religion becoming the servant of the state to Palestine. At the state, politics became attached to the claims of the land from religion. Anywhere in the world, such a conflict is considered a political conflict and not a religious one. In a situation where people who are in their country are overrun by people coming from outside their country and the outsiders take over the country and the native people allow the outsiders to do so since they are stronger and more equipped is known as a violation human and political rights of indigenous people act. The act contains no superior religious implication and therefore arbitration should be according to international law. A solution to this conflict is to give Jews Palestine land forever and the Palestinians requested to accept it as the truth. Between the outlook of the Old Testament and that of the New Testament concerning the issue of the land, there is a very huge difference. In the Old Testament, the land belongs to God for example is the Torah. We are not therefore expected to have private political control over the land hence by sharing the land with others full expression of religious life is achieved.
“Let My People Go! Threads of Exodus in African American Narratives” (p. 309-332)
In the African American Narrative, the exodus is the most important narrative of them all. The importance of the exodus lies in the slave religion and civil rights movement which has made an understanding of the nature of God, Christ’s work, and purpose of humanity. Discovery of the Sabbath gives a significant way of emphasizing on the black theology and provides opportunities for new survey and discussion. the complications of use of exodus in four hundred years of African American religion are described but the account of slavery and struggles against oppression and racism made Israel’s story of deliverance have no importance especially with black theology.
