- Jamie that he did wrong by accepting to be gay
- He felt lonely as no one talked to him. His friends and classmates could not bother talking to him in the hallways after school, and no one joined him on his walk home because they knew he was gay. Besides, Jamie felt frustrated in class and in playing games as no one could pass him the ball. He was stressed and disturbed and did not want anyone to know his feelings at home.
- The consequences of Jamie’s situation made him give up on sports and lost his ambition to become an astronaut. When the bullying continued by not passing him balls, Jamie stopped playing football. His classmates said that a gay could not become an astronaut. This affected his emotions and studies, and he thought he could never be an astronaut. Jamie felt the accusations were his fault and tried to stop being gay, and he was not able to stop. He, therefore, quit trying to be anything at all.
- Self-acceptance would make Jamie aware of his strengths and weaknesses, become realistic in appraising his worth and capabilities to become an astronaut. Besides, he could feel the satisfaction of his choices despite the rejection by his friends and classmates. Self-acceptance would decrease his depressive symptoms of being lonely and frustrated and could not fear failure and self-criticism by his fellows. Also, self-acceptance would have increased his choices, self-worth, and esteem, thus would focus on his studies and achieve on his dreams.
