Additonal Guidelines for Worldview Paper:
For your first paper, you are asked to reflect on both the Christian worldview and your own worldview. You will also discuss “scientism.”
Please use subheadings for each section of the paper.
- Understand the difference between “science” and “scientism” before you write the 2nd section of the paper (see the Practical Dilemma in DQ1 for the week and read the article on scientism). Science and scientism are not the same. Take care not to confuse them.
- Use course materials to support your claims. If your worldview differs from the Christian worldview, then support that part of your paper with academic/authoritative resource. For example, if you are a Buddhist, then you may use the sacred texts of Buddhism as an authoritative source when you answer the worldview questions. Remember, select your sources with care. Do not use websites like “About.com,” etc.
- Look at the word count parameters for each section and stay within them.
- The 3rd section requires you to answer the questions in the instructions from the perspective of your worldview. Indicate what your worldview is at the beginning of this section. Think carefully about your worldview. Strive for consistency and coherence as you describe your worldview. For example, one cannot hold both a Christian view of prime reality and a Buddhist view of prime reality. They are not compatible. Strive for consistency so that all the parts of your worldview fit together.
