Administrative data

Administrative data will be obtained from the administrative records of BoLSA, MoLSA, the offices of 13 insurance firms, and two markets. Common variables derived from all insurance companies using an administrative approach will include: the name of the industry, the payment of premiums, the number of workers injured (non-fatal and fatal), the number and amount of compensation paid for each type of disability (TTD, PTD, medical or sick leave) and the day of work lost. The data obtained from insurance providers may be necessary to measure the cost according to the extent of disability. However, the purpose of the research is to identify factors associated with the cost of injuries to suggest sound intervention. The primary data from sampled 1106 injured workers from selected industries will, therefore be obtained using interview conducted a standardized questionnaire and stratified simple random sampling.
