When sprayed, water acts as a coat on the burning component or components.
For the water jet extinguisher, water will be sprayed at a specific point out. The water will cool the surface of the burning material and hence will prevent the fire from reigniting. For the water spray extinguisher, water will cover a larger surface with a fine spray. The water is ejected at a higher pressure compared to the water jet. This provides an improved fighting ability, and the increased surface area improves the fighting ability.
Another class A fire extinguisher is the water most extinguisher. This extinguisher ejects water as a mist. This is a reduction of the droplets and an increase in area coverage. The small droplets increase the fighting ability since the small droplets evaporate at a faster rate absorbing the heat energy.
