Analysis
The analysis will involve the discussion of the dependent variable, independent variable, and control variable in a selected voting process. The voting process is to happen in Boca Raton state, which is among many states in the United States of America.
Voting is a fundamental activity that is designed to happen after a certain period. Therefore, it does not rely on any external factor for it to happen. However, some factors can determine whether people will vote or not. In deciding those factors, there is the development of parameters that are used to determine the likelihood of voting. The scale of possibility runs through alphabets A- E. Through cross-tabulation data collection, the activity of coding, recoding, a measure of central tendency, and dispersion measure is captured.
The category of data independent variable is as follows
The voters – It includes those who are certain of voting as well as those with the likelihood of voting. These are individuals who have also developed the interest of voting. Besides, they will have a more considerable influence on the outcome of the voting process.
The undecided – It is a category that includes a group of residents who are not sure of whether to vote or not. Their action of voting is highly are influenced by some other external factors. Also, their level of interest is undefined since they cannot be categorized as voters or not. Their influence on the election process is also unclear, and therefore it can be counted partially towards influencing the outcome or results of the voting process.
The non – voters – In this category, the group has already made their mind of not voting. Their status per voting is defined as well as their interest. Since their interest in voting is almost zero, they do not have any effect on the outcome of the election process.
The category of data in the dependent variable is classified with age whereby 65 years is the point of reference as follows,
Intense influence – It is a group of people who are above 65 years of age. From the hypothesis, it was stated that those individual with more than 65 years has the highest possibility of participating in the voting process. These people have shown a high level of interest, and they are certain of participating in the election. Therefore, their participation will have a significant influence on, and is a great way also; they will affect the outcome of the vote.
Fair influence – In this group, individuals are aged 55 years and above, which is close to the age of reference. Due to this proximity to reference age, they exhibit signs of interest in the voting process. Their participation in the election is significant, and considerably, they have the capability of influencing the outcome of the voting process.
Likelihood to have influence – In this group, people are aged 45 years, which can be considered to be a bit far from the reference age. A probability of these people to vote is still there, which shows they still have low intentions of voting. Upon these category voting, there is a probability that they may likely influence the outcome of the voting process.
Do not know whether there is influence – In this category, it includes individuals who are yet to decide about participating in voting. Their status of participating in voting is dependent on other factors. Besides, they do not exhibit some considerable interest in voting. Therefore, the contribution to whether they can affect the outcome of the voting process is purely undefined. First, they need to show some considerable interest in voting, and since their age is far from reference age, they might not influence the outcome.
Do not have any influence – In this category, the people are of below 30 years of age. According to the reference age (65), it is they do not have any interest in participating in voting. Their status of taking part in the voting process is defined therefore at any cost; they cannot have any influence on the outcome of the voting
Conclusion
In most of the research, various methods are considered to be suitable for collecting and recording data for easy analysis. Also, most of the study is inclusive of several factors that need to be captured and assessed. For example, the research on social science involves the determination of multiple variables for extensive coverage of the ideas. It is, therefore, advisable for researchers to choose the effective and efficient method of data recording for easy analysis. Talking about data collection and recording, one of the best techniques to consider is cross-tabulation. It captured a lot of variables and recorded them in multivariate tables where they can be easily analyzed. Since this research is about social science, it can be seen how to cross-tabulation has enabled the recording of the voting process as a dependent variable, together with the independent variable, which is age. It has also enabled assessment of control variables known as the interest of the voters, which has an impact on the voting process. Therefore, it can be concluded that cross-tabulation is among the best techniques of recording data while dealing with research involving multiple variables
