MICRONEEDLING
To understand how needle patches and creams work, it’s necessary first to check out their skin-loving predecessor.
Microneedling, in its full treatment form, involves using a roller with wonderful, short needles to create microscopic punctures in the skin that promote cell renewal, boost collagen production and reduce acne by triggering the body’s wound healing process.
“When there’s a little little bit of bleeding, platelets leave the blood vessels and obtain exposed to the encompassing tissue. This causes a reaction whereby the platelets excrete hormones and growth factors which cause the stimulation of fibroblasts and other collagen-producing cells to start out increasing their production. This, in turn, leads to more elastic and rejuvenated skin.”
Dissolving microneedle patches
Dissolving microneedle patches are relatively new technology. They’ve been researched for use in medicine for delivering vaccines, human growth hormone and insulin, but they’ve been showing up in skincare recently too, especially in Asia and K-beauty.
Dissolving microneedle patches consist of a sticky bandage with a water-soluble chip on top that’s covered in tiny pyramid-shaped microneedles.
What do microneedles do?
Microneedling with tools like dermarollers and dermastampers has been popular recently, for both increasing deliveries of active skincare ingredients and skin rejuvenation. What’s the point of poking yourself with tiny needles? It’s to do with your skin’s anatomy.
Some skincare ingredients with the right properties can penetrate through our skin barrier, but many of them can’t get in. That’s why lots of products are formulated with penetration enhancers to help them get into the skin.
Microneedles are a smart way of increasing the delivery of skincare actives that can’t be done with conventional skincare products. The needles go through the skin barrier and create little tunnels for the ingredients to get through.
How do dissolving microneedles work?
There are a few different types of microneedles. There are solid steel microneedles, just like the type you see in dermarollers and dermastampers, and there are hollow microneedles, which may be wont to inject ingredients. Then there’s dissolving microneedles.
Dissolving microneedles gently penetrate the corneum to succeed in the living epidermis, then slowly dissolve to deliver the active ingredients inside them. The needles are made of water-soluble ingredients, so they can dissolve when they’re applied and meet the water in your skin. After they dissolve and deliver the active ingredients (around 2 hours), there’s no solid material left in the skin, so the risk of irritation is very low.
How to use dissolving microneedle patches
Because the microneedles are water-soluble, it’s important not to let them get into contact with water before they have a chance to penetrate your skin. Otherwise, the effectiveness will decrease! This includes humidity in the air and water on your hands or your skin’s surface.
The Pimple Patches come in a resealable ziplock bag with a desiccant packet inside to keep the needles fresh (the Plumping Patches are sealed in pairs since they’re designed to be used immediately after opening).
- Wash your skin, and dry it thoroughly.
- Making sure your hands are dry, take the patches out of the protective case and remove them from the protective film. Make sure you don’t touch the microneedles in the middle of the patch since they can break.
- Place the patch with the microneedle side down on the area of skin to be treated.
- Gently press the patch into place to help the needles penetrate. Don’t rub the patch.
- Leave in place for at least two hours, although it’s best to leave it overnight.
- Peel off, and you’re done.
It is new, ground-breaking technology developed in the course of research and development of pharmaceutical products.
Allows even high molecular medicinal components to released quickly and safely into the skin
These needles are composed of ingredients like hyaluronic acid and collagen, which are naturally found in skin, and therefore dissolve right into the skin when applied. For this reason, medicinal ingredients put into the microneedles can be safely and quickly released into the surface when the needles dissolve.
This technology makes it possible to deliver medicinal components directly into the skin—even for top molecular therapeutic components that were difficult to delivery transdermally up to now—and is gaining notice as a way of drug delivery that would replace the normal injection.
Benefits of using Andshine Patches
- During the day.
Just from being out and about during the day, our skin can get dry from changes in temperature and weather. To nourish skin and help keep it feeling hydrated through the day, use a moisturizing body wash, a regular gentle exfoliator, and light body lotion. Combined, these three things should help maintain your skin’s naturally healthy look.
- Nighttime.
Wondering how to improve skin as you sleep? We love multitasking, and one of the best nighttime skin care tips we know of is removing all traces of make-up before bed.
- It’s cold.
During colder weather, our faces and bodies tend to be more sensitive to dryness, so moisturizing products are essential to nourish skin and keep it feeling its best.
- Hot weather.
Hot weather can leave skin feeling parched, so choosing a body wash that helps move you feeling lightly hydrated can make all the difference.
- It’s humid.
It’s not just our hair that suffers during humid spells; our skin can feel clammy and uncomfortable, too. One of our best skincare tips for wet periods is to use a refreshing shower product before you face the day.
