Application Essay: Lessons from Mom

As a kid growing up, I have had continuous grand visions and ambitions. Firstly, the best life teachings for any individual are learned when they are growing up. Ordinarily, through observation, we get the hidden aspects of life that, as children, we may not have the knowledge to discern. I was yielded in another country, apparently not the USA. My mother would travel from one locality to another during my childhood days. Fortunately, we emigrated to reside in the USA, where she got a job, an opportunity that saw her go to college to study cosmetology. As I said, the characters, the values, aspirations, and the consistency that most young people tend to develop in their lifetime are a cordial reflection of what they have gone through or observed in their families when young, and my life is not an exception.

My mother is one of the strongest, consistent, emotionally intelligent, and determined persons God allowed me to set eyes on. Significantly, through the struggles that my mother has gone through or went through, I developed armor under my skin that keeps me going. Through my mother, I have learned influential values, customs, and life elements that center on establishing the needed ideals and morals for personal growth. Education has always been my utmost priority. Besides, I occasionally draw a lot of significance from the travails of my mother. For instance, before I was born, my mum had to go through three significant miscarriages, went through depression, and had to fit into a new country and society. On the other end, education was also an unending struggle, but I kicked my way through, and here I am aspiring to get to college and further extend my aspirations in life.

In the end, through her focus and drive, I have worked hard against all odds as an emigrant to grow into a reputed personality by helping the less fortunate, carrying out volunteer works, for instance, helping the venerable and serving the destitute in the streets. In between the lines, I have excelled profoundly in my education, leading as an example. Growing up in Nepal and studying at East Meadow High in New York Long Highland has impacted me with quintessential leadership skills such as delivery, authority, and planning skills. In the spirit of thanking this country and giving back to Nepal’s community, I have resolved to serve the USA as military personnel when I grow up to compensate for the hardship life I have had in school as an immigrant child.
