- Describe the considerations that you would take into account when selecting the menu style for an application and why. Support your response with examples.
The various considerations that I would take while choosing the application menu style include the purpose of the application, the use of the form, the users as well as the visibility. The menu style selected should align with the purpose of the application. A good example is that of the financial institutions where the menu has a place for the members to log or instead sign in to the accounts for access. Additionally, the institution can also have a menu where those who are not members are not required to sign in for various services (Stine, 2018). Members who have signed into the system, the user, get different sets of the menu, which are meant for the members only. The application purpose thus determines the style of the menu as well as the constitutes. The number of items that should be on the menu is also to be considered to avoid overburdening of the menu
Imagine you have been asked to help a novice designer effectively organize his menu content in an application. Provide the novice designer with the advice you feel would be most helpful when organizing content for menus. Support your response.
Menu design can be more effective when data, images, and other visuals are present on the menu. This makes a list more attractive to users. Addition to effectively organize the menu and avoid leaving out important points, I would advise the designer to consider prioritizing on the useful content as well as the most relevant and place them at the forefront (Omura & Benton, 2018). The designer should also emphasize on the best-selling items. Other important factors include involve the use of icons and symbols, reduce the size of the description, avoid the use of generic terms, and also reduce price emphasis.
A menu that is properly organized will make it easy for visitors to find it. The designer should also consider directing the users to the various categories, use menu labels that are creative and also use dropdown menus to organize the content
