The elevation grade, also known as the elevation slope, is the degree of the inclination or the erratic variation of a specific area. Once it has been determined, the next step to fill the cavities is to construct the cavity using two walls with two leaves-inner and the outer leaf. These leaves are connected using metal ties that are rust-proof to ensure they are parallel from one another. This should be done keenly to ensure the external environment does not communicate with the internal environment. Sealing between the two leaves of the cavities is done using the mineral wool to ensure adequate sealing of the gap.

These cavities are of great advantage as they more affordable economically compared to solid walls. Besides, they provide the best thermal insulation compared to solid walls. This is because of the space between the two leaves of the cavities that are filled with air. The air reduces the transmission of heat from both sides of the walls. Also, moisture content from the outside environment does not enter because of the hollow space thus preventing dampness besides acting as a sound insulator. Further, they help reduce the foundation’s weight because they are less thick and lighter than the actual walls. Lastly, it allows the expansion and construction between the back wall and the veneer.

Several methods can be used to create cavities in masonry. They include the use of the stretcher bond and the Flemish bonds for construction. Through these goals, the masonry constructors can achieve the desired goals.
