You might be familiar with the good old saying that goes, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well, there just so much truth in this saying, eating particular food with a percentage of a given mineral or vitamin in it does so much good than harm to your immune system. The immune system does the primary function of protecting the body against other foreign bodies or disease-causing germs, this way, it is only vital that we learn of the best vitamins to ingest in our bodies for boosting our immune system. Below we discuss the various types of vitamins that help boost our immune system.

VITAMIN C

Vitamin C is one of the known immune boosters; there is, the lack of vitamin C in your body makes you prone to attracting diseases, bacteria, viruses, and germs. However, some foods are rich in vitamin C good enough for our bodies; this food includes fruits such as oranges and vegetables such as kales. Our bodies do not produce nor store vitamin C, and they are actively in use once ingested in our bodies. This, therefore, makes it essential to take in vitamin C at least every day. None the less, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. This means that vitamin C is found in just so many fruits and vegetables, and this way, it might not be necessary to take in vitamin C supplements unless your doctors advise you to do so.

VITAMIN B6

Vitamin B6 supports the biochemical reactions in the immune system; it is also known to be beneficial in the central nervous system. Some foods are rich in vitamin C. This includes chicken and some various types of fish like tuna and salmon; also, the vitamin is found in vegetables and fruits like bananas. Our bodies cannot produce the vitamin; therefore, humans are advised to have more intake of foods with vitamin B6. The benefits that vitamin B6 has in the body are that it helps the immune system to prevent and treat anemia since it adds hemoglobin production. Also, It helps our bodies avoid clogged arteries and reduces heart disease risk.

VITAMIN E

Just like vitamin C, vitamin E helps boost the immune system by ensuring our bodies can fight off any infection or disease-causing germs. The vitamin is a known key to strong immunity, which equally results in healthy skin and eyes. Doctors’ advice that we should take vitamin E since it has become a popular antioxidant and prepares our immune to fight off diseases. The foods that are rich in vitamin E and are beneficial to our bodies include nuts, vegetable oil, seeds such as the almonds seeds, vegetables, among others.
