BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE
Black and brown people is a term used to refer to people with dark brown skin color. Not all black people have dark skin color, but mostly in western countries, the term black refers to people who are dark-skinned compared to other populations. They are the people of African descent and the people from the Indian continent, also the indigenous peoples of Oceania. Indigenous African societies do not use the term black as a racial identity. The social constructs have changed with time in different societies of who is regarded as black in different societies over time. For instance, in the United Kingdom, black is equivalent historically with “people of color,” which was a general term for non-European peoples. Other regions like Australia, the term black, is used to refer to people with different ancestral backgrounds and with different histories. Americans use the word black to refer to people with the African race. Countries like Brazil, the concept of race, is involved since people are classified by appearance, not heredity. Black and brown people mostly have been considered as people with inferiority when it comes to leadership and power in some countries like America. Almost half of the Africans are black when classifying people according to their skin color. The lives of most black and brown people need to be improved from different perspectives. This paper gives a detailed description of how to make it better for black and brown people.
In countries like America, people who are dark-skinned have faced many challenges in their daily lives. Firstly they are endangered to racial discrimination. There are some places where it is dangerous for a person from the black race to live. The only way to save the blacks from racial discrimination is by the United Nations, ensuring that governments from those hotspots of racial discrimination come up with tight laws against it (Logan, 2018, 12). There have been racial abuses from football fans also, whereby in some football leagues like the la Liga, some players have been abused in some pitches while football matches have been ongoing. To stop racism in football, FIFA has come up with laws that give jail terms or altogether banning such fans from those football pitches.
Their lives can be made by ensuring that there is fairness when it comes to giving job opportunities either by governments or some companies. Some of the companies owned by white people in some countries like America and the United Kingdom don’t give jobs to people from black society, no matter how qualified they are. Such companies with that kind of behavior should be completely banned from operating. Their licenses should be taken from them. Everybody requires equal treatment, no matter the color. There have been some movements which try to bring equality like the Black lives matter. Some governments are doing better while trying to regulate racism pandemic in their countries.
Better education also can be used to make their lives better. Building schools and collages can help them with knowledge of survival skills. Many people live in poverty due to a lack of education, which makes them less qualified for jobs. When more schools and colleges are built, it means that everybody will be able to access education and yet they will be more qualified than when being uneducated. After the schools have been built, the government is supposed to make sure that they employ supportive teachers to mentor their students so that they can be a better citizens. The teachers should also devalue racism (Logan, 2018, 14). They should also try to change the minds of some black students that the whites hate them and start living together with them without any discrimination.
The government should also build more hospitals to ensure quality health for the blacks. The hospitals should also be provided with modern facilities to try to control some diseases like cancer, which has been endangering lives for the blacks. After building the hospitals, then the government should also employ qualified doctors and nurses to ensure that patients are treated well. Accessing the services in those hospitals should also be made cheaper so that everybody, whether rich or even poor, can afford it. Doing this will reduce deaths, which results from some curable diseases.
There should also be the creation of more jobs. This is done by building more factories and starting more companies. People should also be encouraged to start their businesses so that they may employ other jobless individuals. By doing this, unemployment will reduce among blacks. Geographical subsidies should also be done to allow more firms to invest in those areas. There should also be more flexible labor markets to allow firms to employ workers (Logan, 2018, 12). This will encourage more job creation. The governments should also try to invest in youths by giving those loans and lowering the loan rates to make sure every youth can apply them and pay them in time.
Substance abuse should also be controlled. Many blacks have become slaves of drugs and alcohol. Mostly young people have become big abusers of drugs. Most of them have been drunkards, and they can’t be responsible anymore. It can be controlled by firstly effectively dealing with peer pressure. Most teens have started abusing drugs like smoking marijuana because their friends do smoke too. There should be specific ways to deal with peer pressure like, for instance, parents becoming more-strict with their children and always ensuring they don’t stay idle. They should seek mental illness and try to control life pressures, which also makes them drug abusers (Logan, 2018, 17). They should also keep a well-balanced life and also try examining risk factors of abusing those drugs.
Black youths are also at high risk of being involved in brutal physical violence through homicides or even aggravated assaults. This exposure to such assaults can result in long term injuries and, finally, death. The government should put measures to control such scenarios. This is done by ensuring that there is no illegal ownership of guns, which has resulted in the formation of gangs (Logan, 2018, 12). There should also be the deployment of many security officers in those violent areas.
The lives of black and brown people can be improved by making sure that the above measures are put in place. Mostly racial discrimination has been the biggest challenge they have been facing. Many countries have tried to fight it by putting different measures. When more jobs are created and more health facilities built, blacks will get the chance to live better lives. Violence and drug abuse have been taking the lives of teens, therefore if it will be controlled, insecurity will be minimized. The blacks will be living freely, and their lives will be improved dramatically.
