Both nature and nurture play an essential role in the process of socialization

Both nature and nurture play an essential role in the process of socialization. Nurture constitutes the cultural and social environment surrounding an individual, whereas nature is the biological or heredity aspect of human beings. Debates have been carried in the recent past to determine which of the two (nature and nurture) is the dominant one in explaining human behavior and socialization

A congenital defect is a condition that is noticed when a child is born, showing errors regardless of its cause. Anna was discovered to have vaginitis, skin rash, and umbilical hernia when she was just a child. Due to these defects, no one wanted to adopt her, and she spent most of her childhood locked up with minimal contact with the outside world.

She was poorly nourished, and therefore her growth was disrupted. She had a severe lack of muscles, abnormal bones, and she could neither see nor hear properly. She was locked away from the outside world, and this affected her in many ways, including the inability to develop human language as well as cognition.

The development of personality is not only dependent on nature or nurture. People typically inherit personality, but these traits are also shaped by the environment we grow up in as children. Anna could not develop language skills for a long time even after efforts were made to help her, and she could interact with people regularly. Isabelle was also raised in isolation by her mother, who was deaf and dumb. She could not develop verbal skills and did not understand how relations work. In these two cases, the lack of exposure to the external environment led to their underdevelopment of personality.
