However, no information was provided about the patients; yet, it was confirmed that one of the patients was a student who had just visited Wuhan, the point of origin of the virus outburst.
On February 3, the minister of health stated that the government of Brazil would proclaim a public health emergency of international concern even though there were no confirmed cases in the country. He also noted that the government would assist in returning Brazilian nationals from countries profoundly affected by the coronavirus outbreak such as Wuhan. In February, the ministry of health confirmed that about 30 Brazilians were in Wuhan and that they were to come into the country on February 8. These people would be isolated for not less than 18 days.
Two planes were sent to Wuhan on February 5 to move out 34 Brazilians. The flight crew and the 24 were quarantined for 18 days in a Brazilian air force base located in Anopolisand were discharged on February the 2rd along with the health personals who had contact with them. The injection of funds is a mitigation strategy that is aimed at helping the economy from the impacts of the global pandemic.
