Business Problems and Solutions
Business Problems and Solutions
It is the dream of many people to start and run a successful business or organization for that matter. However, this thought always turns out to be scary, especially when you consider the challenges you are likely to encounter. Like any other business set up or organization, the Robot team is and will be faced with many challenges. This paper seeks to identify this problem and try to offer viable solutions and alternatives (Hao and Yazdanifard, 2015).
The biggest problem most teams like this Robot team, in particular, will face, and this has become a significant problem, is recruiting or rather hiring the most rightful and most deserving person to head or lead the team. Mr. Anders is a bit confused because the three candidates he has for captaincy both seem to be the best, but he has to pick one, let us now try to discuss the solution and possible alternatives to this issue (Beachboard and Aytes, 2013).
Each of the three students: Pria, Justin, and Jerome seem like very good candidates that can take the lead of the team, but they also have their shortcomings, and this is something that has to be dealt with accordingly. Pria, despite her young age and the fact that she is the only female member of the team, she has a lot of potential and capabilities to be desired. However, Pria is known for being too rigid. For this matter, if elected the captain, Pria will face many challenges not only from the team members but also from achieving the objectives in time (Hao and Yazdanifard, 2015).
The second candidate who is Justin, too, has his merits and demerits, other than being social and also likable. He lacks a firm stand and has never been known for being assertive enough. As a captain, Justin is going to be required to make decisions that not everyone agrees to, and this will call for his assertiveness and firm stand, qualities which he does not seem to have (Hao and Yazdanifard, 2015).
If we are going to create a strong team, Mr. Anders will need to be careful about who takes charge. The solution here is to place a high value on attitude, work ethics, and motivation. These three are key factors to help in selecting the right candidate for the job if the candidate lacks the right attitude and is always detracted by his personal needs then they are not the right ones to lead (Beachboard and Aytes, 2013).
Lastly, all three candidates should be vetted appropriately and adequately to realize their strengths and weakness, but be careful not to hyper-focus on the past. Two make sure that the candidate spends plenty of time with the team. By doing this, you will realize other skills like communication skills, which are also important for a captain.
