Career Plan Report
Part 1: Self-Assessment
Preferences
A career plan starts with an individual’s self-assessment. I have an educational background rich with business knowledge. I have the vision to become a human resource and management professional. My vision at Toronto Car Lease, Deloitte Shanghai, and Tiantian Abroad in Wechat Little Program was to develop a culture where people would want to work and stay. Averagely, in the companies I have worked, the outcome attracted many job applicants, and the companies grew to be the most admired workplaces. I design business communication plans to help me strategically formulate goals and forecast future development route and direction. Strategic plans form the foundation of growth and development of my Human Resource and Management career.
A strategic analyst should understand numbers well. Working at Deloitte Shanghai as an assistant consultant helped me build strategic analytical skills. I independently completed the PPT of Huawei’s strategic analysis and forecast, which covered the financial trends, international trends, countermeasures, and management mode from its establishment in 1987 to 2019. I also completed an analysis of future strategies in 2020 and the future. My skills and knowledge at Deloitte improved my budgeting and finance skills. These skills will help boost my human resource career. I will use the information to propose projects to the directors.
A human resource manager should have excellent communication and analytical skills. I am a good communicator and analyzer. I am well acquainted with analysis skills such and languages such as PPT, Excel, WPS, and can work with any computer operating software. I also worked At Tiantian Abroad in Wechat Little Program as the Marketing and Customer Analysis personnel, which helped me grow my communication skills. I was mainly responsible for the communication business settlement and contact signing. The experience taught me the difference between regular communication and professional communication. When communicating professionally, you are the voice of the organizations’ culture. I use my skills to effectively communicate o others and adopt the best communication skills that suit me.
Strengths
I have vast experience and knowledge of disciplines that are associated with human resource management. I have a core foundation in many functions related to human resource, including economics, statistics, management, business, quantitative business, and human resource and management. I have a strong professional desire to become a human resource manager, and I have the capacity and aptitude to make decisions in challenging situations. I have strong problem-solving skills from handling simple to complex challenges at work and off work setting calmly and reasonably.
I am self-disciplined and well acquainted with time management skills. I gained self-discipline from 2017 to 2019 campus practice. Handling the highest responsibility position at the University Debate Competition in Eastern Canada, including the University of Toronto, McGill University, Queen’s University, and other university alliances, requires a high sense of self-discipline. I developed my time management skills through the same platforms. The skill helped me pull sponsors behind the scenes by managing the clients’ time and gaining their trust. A Human Resource and Management professional has no enough time in a day to complete all assigned tasks. Often than not, human resource professionals prioritize tasks that are to be completed in a day. Prioritization of tasks needs a high degree of self-discipline and excellent time management skills to execute work. For instance, as the founder of Toronto Car Lease, cooperating with all brands of 45 stores is not an easy task. I utilized my time management skills to make sure all the brands and clients are satisfied. Some times I could postpone the dealing of other stores and play catch up, which needed a high degree of self-discipline.
Besides, I am a trustworthy person. Individuals or organizations open up to individuals they trust. They have to trust you will do the right thing and, more so, have their interest at heart. I have been trusted by various companies to hold prominent positions. Deloitte Shanghai allowed me to hold the assistant consultant position because I am a trustable individual. Trust is the most significant human resource necessity. A trustworthy individual is credible and confidential. I have done my best to ensure my credibility is always constant. Tiantian Abroad in Wechat Little Program company trusted me to plan its future development route and direction.
Areas of improvement
I need to improve my impartial and objective skills. I am human, and sometimes we get biased. I need to learn to remain neutral
As a Human Resources professional, you must be able to stay neutral. When dealing with a work incident or employee issue, you must be objective and impartial. Your personal opinion does not count—these types of decisions must be based solely on the facts presented. Having excellent problem-solving skills is a must, and you’ll need to apply them in numerous situations. A significant factor is knowing when you cannot be objective or impartial about a particular incident or issue to step aside and let others handle the incident. I perform well under pressure and can make informed decisions based on facts, not emotions. T
I should improve my training, developing, and mentoring skills. Human resource and management professionals provide training to employees and top management. As a human resource manager, I should develop methods and strategies to help employees develop and improve their skills. Since I am the founder of Toronto Car Lease, the skill set will increase the employees’ performance and the organization. When you mentor people, you help them grow professionally and personally.
I should improve my collaboration skills. While working at Deloitte Shanghai, I always liked to work alone. I should learn how to work with my team and help each other co-create plans and devise new noble strategies.
Part 2: Career Goals, Values, and Ethics:
My short-term goal includes gaining a new skill, boosting my networking skills, and increasing my productivity. I am planning to regularly acquire new skills that will help me attain my long-term goals. The more diverse my skill set will be, the closer I will be to achieving the best in human resource and management. I am also aspiring to build my capacity to network with diverse professionals and develop an influencing power which will help me progress and attain my long-term career goals. Lastly, I will work to improve my productivity KPI daily. I will develop good habits to improve and make decisions in the right direction.
My long-term goals include becoming an expert in my field and winning a prestigious human resource profession award. I intend to be an expert in the human resource field. An expert is a person that has achieved vast knowledge and spent a lot of time in a specific profession to be problem-solving, understanding a complex event, and fact-finding. I intend to spend a lot of my time improving my skills daily until I reach the expert level. I also plan to triumph an honorable award in the human resource and management field. I will work smart to ensure that my employer will offer unique distinctions that will enable me to attain the award. Recognition and incentives, such as awards, are the most motivating factors that help employees achieve career goals.
My values and ethical orientation align with my career goals positively. My values and ethics while I self-evaluate myself intertwine and develop towards leading to achieving my goals. In the human resources and management field, I have learned that an individual can take various steps to illustrate and instill self-discipline to increase competency for various values to achieve goals ethically. Actively utilizing core competencies during my day to day operations as a human resource manager will help me stand out and achieve my career goals. The positive relationship between my values and ethical consideration has helped develop my human resources competencies and my Human Resource and Management career goals by understanding various company ethical and competency models, self-evaluation, pursuing professional development, and looking for appropriate Human Resource Management mentors. Before performing the PPT of Huawei’s strategic analysis and forecast, I learned and understood the company culture by analyzing their financial trends, international trends, countermeasures, and management. The information helps me evaluate the company’s culture to help me formulate and future strategies. Besides, heading the public relations department back in college allowed me to pursue professional management development. I also self-evaluated myself regularly to better my career goals and objectives frequently. From 2017 to 2019, I have been assigned different roles in various organizations that have helped me attain my career goals. In these organizations, I always try to find the best coworker to help me improve my productivity. I often shadow senior Human Resource and Management workers and take notes on building and developing their skills. Through this, I have improved my human resource and management knowledge and skills, which is bringing me closer to become a senior Human Resource and Management professional.
Part 3: Integration:
My preferences and strengths relationship with my career goals and values define me as a conventional person. My relationship between self-assessment and career, goals, values, and ethics defines me as a person that is detail-oriented, disciplines, practical, and dependable. The association suggests I am good at analytical, numerical, and clerical tasks. Considering my educational background, the relationship between my career goals, values, and ethics and self-assessment work well with me. I am an excellent scheduler, project manager, and organizer. These are attributes that help me achieve my ultimate career goals.
Based on my self-assessment, I should improve my communication skills. Although I am a good communicator, I am shy at some in some scenarios. I need to improve my confidence when addressing people. Human resource managers should be confident and efficient in formal and informal communication. I will build my career through an internship in multinational companies. Since I have been working for the local companies with average experience to earn, I would like to join a large company such as Walmart or Netflix to build my communication skill.
