Lesotho is an independent, sovereign, and democratic country with the unique feature of being inside South Africa. Lesotho was in the past named Basutoland before their independence in 1966; the country was under the rule of the military for over twenty-three years, but the crown was stripped off involvement in political affairs and executive authority after promulgation of their new constitution.
