Causal Argument Essay: Causes of college dropout

Introduction

College is a vital institution that equips students with useful knowledge and skills to apply in their daily lives. Besides, it creates awareness through experiences gained from various people since it involves individuals with different ideas. Furthermore, it is a place where students fulfill their dreams and ambitions. However, college dropout has become a significant challenge faced by institutions. This has resulted in a decline in the number of graduates and has also made students deviate to other activities apart from learning. The present causal argument essay will explain some of the significant causes of college dropout that includes academic phobia, financial instability, and family struggles.

Causes of college dropout

Based on my analysis, the first factor that has predominantly led to college dropout is an academic phobia. Being a college student requires a lot of sacrifice and responsibility, but the study has analyzed that most students lack them. However, they join colleges with the notion that it is easy by comparing it with high school life. Some students drop out of college due to poor performance. They toil harder, but instead of proper outcome, they continue failing, in this manner, they get demoralized in place of motivation. This finally insight stress amidst student and continued failures may eventually lead to school dropout.

Financial instability is another significant challenge for almost all students. It is dependent either on parents or students themselves. An economic crisis may make parents lack enough money to support their children’s sustainability in colleges. This would force their children to drop out of school. Some students may be their own breadwinners. However, studying and working at the same time to obtain an income is not easy. Sometimes those students are forced to postpone classes and assignments to prioritize settling their pilling college fees and rents (You-Geon & Ferrare).

The other reason is as a result of peer influence where a student feels ashamed of putting on an attire repeatedly; they try to compare their life with others’ lifestyle. This is a practice often seen in girls, and their lives are most endangered. This forces some students to work extra harder to get money. Similarly, others also get involved in dirty ways of getting money, such as prostitution (Zachary). Life becomes frustrating when they cannot make both ends meet. Additionally, catching up becomes difficult since they miss a lot during their multitasking trial. Eventually, such students drop out of school due to inability to set the accumulated bills and unappealing performance.

The last cause is family wrangles. Most of the college girls have children; this could either be through early or unplanned pregnancies. Some parents no longer see the essence of educating such students. This forces the students to manage their time appropriately by creating sometimes for studies and some to cater to their children. As a young parent, they do not have sufficient money to take care of their children. Therefore, they will require extra time to look for the fund to meet their needs (Zachary). This may cause college dropouts as a result of improper management of time.

Another instance where a family can contribute to students’ dropout is the parent’s loss of job.in the instances where parents are dependent on employment and suddenly losses the job, it becomes challenging. They may try fixing to manage with the little resources but it might not work out. This may force parents to major on the basic needs and ignore students’ college fees. This will eventually result in students dropping out of colleges since they cannot sustain themselves any longer.

However, the above mentioned challenges can be objected. Financial instability should not lead to a student dropping out of school. Instead, they should practice some part-time businesses and employ time management criteria to ensure proper study and work time. Students should get motivated either by the tutors or professional speakers during orientations to avoid dropouts due to academic phobia. Finally, families should get ready to educate their children despite the situation (Zachary). The discrimination should not be tolerated to ensure that students’ rights and freedom are counted for.

In a nutshell, colleges create awareness for the students by offering useful knowledge and skills, therefore every student is guaranteed to attain them. Hence the government should offer some loans and bursaries to aid in facilitating the education of students. Moreover, students are also urged not to prioritize on dropping out of schools but to keep trying without giving up until they achieve their dreams. Every student is entitled to a right to education; hence the students should be educated without discrimination under any circumstance unless they are unwilling to learn (Zachary). Therefore, stern measures should be taken against parents who do not see the importance of educating college girls who have delivered.
