Change Advocacy Strategies in Nursing
Nursing Leadership
The Leadership concept is crucial in the nursing profession. Nurses must develop a great leadership model towards delivering high-quality care while ensuring that patients are safe. In the nursing profession, leadership involves influence and utilizes interpersonal skills to achieve a specific objective (AL-Dossary, 2017). It consists of influencing other people to enthusiastically strive towards the missions of a healthcare facility. To create a positive change within my workplace, several advocacy strategies are essential.
Effective Communication
Communicating effectively is essential for the execution of change in my current healthcare facility. When coworkers are pressured, nursing advocates can raise the concerns and concisely state it. Additionally, understanding nursing advocate regulations and laws could be essential for a positive change (Andersonn, (n.d.). As a leader, I would familiarize myself with the federal and state laws along with the facility’s procedures and policies to advocate for positive change in care delivery.
Maintaining a Positive Relationship with the Team
To create a positive change, it is vital to ensure a good relationship with the associates for an enhanced response to patients’ problems. A cheerful attitude and learning how to deal with negativity from coworkers are essential ideas for a better workplace (AL-Dossary, 2017). I would also try to enhance the overall experience of patients through creativity as the processes in the hospital are changing drastically.
Being There for the Patients and Their Families
Lastly, advocating for a positive change within my work area may require me to be available for the families and patients. I would achieve this through documentation for enhanced bedside care to better the quality of care services. Better decisions can be made from a better relationship with the families and patients that may assist in mediating the goals of patients and the plans of the doctors.
