Charismatic and Transformational Leadership

Leader traits define how effective the leader can be in policymaking and decision making. Leadership traits are personal qualities defining an effective leader. Leadership is the ability of an individual to guide employees in achieving the organization’s goals. It assists in maximizing efficiency and achieving organizational goals. Effective leaders guide, motivate, and initiate actions of the team members. Some of the significant leadership traits are discussed below.

Effective communicators are good leaders because they can explain their problems and solutions. They can conveniently communicate their expectations to their employees that have a positive impact on performance. Leaders that are accountable and responsible tend to encourage and support employees towards the organizational goals and policies. Confident leaders can make tough decisions amid pressures and problems within the organization. Confidence cultivates open communication and teamwork.  Emotionally stable leaders exercise reasonable control of their behavior and easily cope with new environments (Lin et al., 2019).

Difference between Charismatic and Transformational Leadership

charismatic leadership is attributed to influencing the employees through arousing enthusiasm and commitment (Banks et al., 2017). It influences an organization towards its performance, but there are some dark sides in its implementation. The dark side is attributed to instability and uncertainty I decision making strategies. Transformational leadership is a leadership style that leaders use by creating awareness of the importance and value of the employees’ work. The leaders assist employees in developing confidence and responsibilities in their work. The workers trust such leaders are they become more motivated.

In charismatic leadership, the employees are dependent on their leaders, while transformational leadership develops inspiration and motivation among workers themselves. Transformational and charismatic leadership influences commitment, which in turn results in innovation implementation. The best work characteristic for strategic decisions is resources, while competitive advantage characteristic is for operational decisions.
