CHCGRP002 – Plan and conduct group activities

To survive and grow appropriately in congregations or groups with diverse personalities, activities are required. The need for planning and having suitable group activities do not just happen; it requires skills insignificant events taking the issues below into account in your planning. This unit, CHCGRP002 – Plan and conduct group activities, describes skills and knowledge that are required to establish, lead, and participate in groups using a collaborative, strengths-based approach ((Firm), 2015). CHCGRP002 – Plan and conduct activities apply to any individual, either formal or informal, involved in leading and planning group activities.

Working with a diverse group that consists of five participants, the first participant having a mild intellectual disability. The second having hearing impairment in both ears and feels socially isolated. The third participant having early onset dementia and enjoys quizzes. The fourth participant having a diversity down syndrome and enjoys board games, and the fifth participant is having bipolar and would like to attend a therapeutic activity.

To develop different group activities sessions for the five participants, I need to consider

  1. Reviewing the available information and identify the needs of the group
  2. Generate ideas for activities that respond to identified needs
  1. Identify and follow up on the requirements to make submissions for potential sources of assistance and resources within the scope of the role.

In the case of the five participants, they would be motivated if I involved them in designing and deciding the activities. The most suitable would be activities that best gear towards developing their potentials, like through asking them. I would incorporate group planning through:

  1. Seeking opportunity actively for collaborative planning share the duties with the clients
  2. Solicit, analyze, and prioritize information concerning the group’s needs and what they expect.
  1. Try and design group strategies that promote effective group operation and take into account specific characteristics of the participating clients.
  2. Evaluate and analyze the purpose of the group activity proposed and documented the aims and objectives of inputs.

I would develop and deploy team-building games, group exercises, and events, and corporate events and social responsibility. When the three sessions are applied, they would develop the participants’ motivation, improve communication, and involve a lot of fun among them.

One of the team building games for the activity that would take 5-10 minutes would be an activity called changes. Where its primary purpose is to diffuse negativity within a group when faced with challenging modifications. So that I can collaboratively involve the participants in the aims and objectives of the activity, I would clearly outline the activity proceedings and how one participates. In the event, the resources required in the game are slight mind evaluation, paying attention and participation in the group, flip chart, and proposed changes by the participants. The instructions for the activity are; using a flip chart, list the changes that the group is going through. Facilitate a discussion on:

deal with the problems?

Then break the participants into pairs and ask them to select a symbol. After their discussions, reassemble them into one group and have them choose a symbol. You can repeat this as needed throughout the training event. After training and carrying out tests, I would use my interpersonal skills need to paraphrase the activity for the participants to understand. And also, by asking questions at the end of the training, what the participant has learned during the activity. To achieve more on the activity, I would manage group processes and personal conflict that would be reached by:

  1. Promoting opportunities for open dialogue, asking questions and active listening between paired groups
  2. Encouraging and modeling the sensitivity to diverse participants
  1. Offer the opportunity to all participants for support, debriefing, mediation, consultation, and facilitation.
  2. Encouraging acknowledgment of rights and responsibilities and perceptions of all participants in the conflict situation
  3. Using strategies to prevent conflict within their role, power, and capacity

The final stage that would ensure competency in an activity involving the five participants would be achieved by:

  1. Seeking feedback from group participants on the achievement of the objectives, group process, areas for development and other results
  2. Ensure the aims and priorities of the group activity provide the basis for evaluation and feedback
