Children do undergo different development stages

Introduction

Children do undergo different development stages, which do call for different parenting methods to meet up with the children’s situation. In the same regard, different parenting styles do apply to children’s development under different circumstances. Parents need to understand how their children are affected by various stages of development. This is important to know how best to deal with them at different levels.

Observation of Parenting Styles

I saw a child crying while breaking everything he could in the house, and the parents were giving the child even more things to cut to calm him up also though the child had no medical, which would trigger such behavior. In this regard, I would say that the parents were using a permissive parenting style, according to Diana Baumrind, which has led to the conduct of the child. The parents allow the child to do anything he wants, which is dangerous since it may lead to him not being disciplined. The parents of that child would need to be a bit strict for the child to have some sense of discipline and understand that some things are not done the way he feels they should.

On another occasion, I saw a child playing with dirt and immediately the parent came out of the house and called her she quickly went to the parent and asked for forgiveness and even promise not to repeat the same. This, in my opinion, is the best parenting style, which is, according to Baumrind, we can tell it is Authoritative parenting. In an authoritative parenting style, the parent quickly gets to control the child because, in as much as the parent is strict, the child is given a lot of love and care. This kind of parenting allows the child to know what’s right and evil, and the child happens to be disciplined.

Children’s Development and Parenting Styles

The different behaviors of children do indeed change with the various stages of development. In all of this differential, styles are applicable to ensure that the children are well behaved at every step. For instance, during adolescence, young teenagers do feel like they need to do what they want with less or no supervision, and in this authoritative parenting would be advised. To ensure that some of the children who are a high risk of messing up in life are guided to behave well during that stage of development. Authoritative parenting will ensure these young adolescents feel loved in as much as restrictions are being applied to them.

Some younger children who are at the different stages where they are too playful and a bit destructive needs authoritarian parenting styles applied on them. The reason why authoritarian parenting is advised is that they are still young and would not put ideas on their mind, suppose the parent is quite too strict on them. These young children are quite naïve and would be persuaded by the little things possible but still remember what they are not supposed to do due to the authoritarian parenting style.

Forms of Discipline that Work

According to a CNN news article reported by Kelly Wallace on February 7th, 2017, the headline was Kids misbehaving when old rules of discipline no longer apply. Kelly brought out a story about a father whose child was brought to him with a police officer dud to an offense he had committed. When the father asked the police officer to go in and watch him whip the child, the officer told him that he would be prosecuted. The father then told the officer if I discipline the child, I get to the trouble, and if I don’t, I also get to the problem and ask what he was supposed to do as a parent. Being that the child was a young adolescent, Kelly Wallace included in her article advice by a psychologist, which showed the importance of talking to young adolescents before initiating heavy punishment.

In my opinion, this is precisely where the Baumrind parenting styles do apply, and on this occasion, authoritative parenting. The parent has to understand how to handle their young adolescence because, at that particular moment, they need a lot of guidance in as much as they are being restricted. There have to be collective responsibilities among parents to ensure their young adolescence do not mess up their lives during that stage. This is exactly why I agreed that different parenting styles do apply to children under various stages of development.

Conclusion

To sum up, I may tell that parenting hood is the determinant of the discipline of the children in different stages. The better, the better application of parenting styles, the better behaved the child becomes, it practically depends on the parents. Children become either disciplined or undisciplined, depending on the way the parent has brought the child up. Parents should always be cautious of the parenting styles they apply to their children to ensure they bring up a better generation.//
