Civilization
Civilization takes place in society. In this case, community refers to a cluster of people living together, sharing universal norms, and interacting with each other. On the other hand, civilization is the changes that take place in society allowing its advancement. For a country to be considered civilized, changes that are characterized by five elements take place. In this case, the elements act as indicators of civilization. A nation is termed to be civilized when the government’s system is centralized, the religion is organized, citizens are specialized in a particular field, and there are differences in social classes. In addition to this, other elements include writing and finally the existence of arts (such as music, poetry, painting among other forms in a community), architectural designs (such as for houses) and infrastructure (such as schools, and public transport among others).
The centralized system of government, in this case, is whereby a few people decide on behalf of the entire population. Mainly, they focus on making state laws as well as their enforcement. In this case, the few selected individuals involved in decision making are given the decision making power. For instance, in the United States of America, power is concentrated in Washington, DC. The people involved in decision making her are the president, the Supreme Court, and its representatives and finally the congress.
The organization of religion, in this case, is whereby people believe in a supernatural being and also have clearly defined rules guiding worshipping. Cults, however, do not fall under the category of organized religion.
Job specialization guides the division of labor. Different specialization is paid differently, and wealth and inequality contribute to the emergence of social classes. Social classes are also based on educational as well as social factors such as race.
A society should have a system of writing whereby information is kept and stored for further reference through symbols.
