Class learning
The learning system has changed in the recent past due to the increased growth of web-based technology, which has noticeably transformed the learning environment. Learning has always been perceived as a class activity, but people have embraced online learning with web-based technology.
Class learning is a social and communicative environment where both the teacher and the student interact physically and involve the use of textbooks and papers. In contrast, online learning is the environment where both the teacher and the student are in two different geographical environments but interact with each other over the internet by the use of devices such as laptops of mobile phones. In a class learning environment, the important component is a better interaction between the student and the teacher or between a student to another. This gives the students the ability to ask questions, share their opinions with other students freely, and disagree with a point of view. These discussions and disagreements are fundamental to the learning activities since it’s through them that a new idea is formed and a learning idea is achieved. However, in an online learning environment, the students are denied the opportunity of close connection among learners and hence cannot easily interact with other students. This has led to some students taking online classes to complain about loneliness and feeling stressed.
Online learning, however, promotes self-centred learning to the students, making them want to research more on their own, provides an environment with a lesser intimidating interaction environment between individuals, and has less pressure on students than the face-to-face setting interactions. Hence, this can lead to better performance compared to those receiving textbooks and papers instructions, but it has to be done right.
