Some of the social psychology theories can be used in clinical psychology; however, very few social psychology theories have been developed to explain the clinical psychology (Kramer, Bernstein & Phares, 2019). Some of the social psychology theories that are widely used in the field of clinical psychology include; cognitive-behavioral theory, schema theory, and cognitive dissonance theory. Social psychology theories play a significant role in enabling the clinicians to gain an understanding of the relationship that exists between mind and environmental factors. Additionally, social psychology helps in unearthing the effect of interdependence on the health of a person.

Social training skill denotes to a form of behavioral therapy that enhances social skills among individuals with developmental disabilities and mental disorders. Social skill training plays a significant role in people with anxiety and depression (Hong et al., 2018). It offers training to individuals regarding adaptable behavior and healthy, which helps sharpen their emotional and intellectual capabilities. This, in turn, improves an individual capacity to cope with various stressors they encounter in life. Social training skill is founded on effective communication, both verbal and non-verbal.

Social skill training plays a vital role in helping individuals to effectively acquainted with the setting of the social environment, which is often regarded as threatening by people with social anxiety. This type of therapy plays a crucial role in eliminating the mismatch that characterizes a particular social setting and helps an individual cope with the problem.
