Introduction
Community Health Assessment (CHA) tries to capture territorial, state, local, or even tribal health issues and needs that have been marked as vital. It is done using a comprehensive and systematic procedure to collect data before analyzing and interpreting. It uses assessment principles of diversity in community engagement and multisector collaborations, to mention a few (Rosenbaum, 2013).
Reliable information equates to efficient leadership in the healthcare systems. For this reason, a windshield survey was conducted in Jordan, Minnesota, to assess the health care systems in the area. The research was done extensively, and observations were recorded without any alterations.
Executive Summary
General Conditions and Public Health Needs
After a fruitful surveying expedition, visiting over fifteen different locations in the city of Jordan, we gathered vital information from the community regarding public health. The survey was successful, all thanks to the help of the professional health practitioners that were involved. Data collected were from different locations in the community. The aim was to figure out the underlying conditions and general outlook of Jordan’s public health in Minnesota.
Assessments were executed at schools, residential neighborhoods, health care units, churches, and across various streets. So many special conditions and trends were observed and recorded. We first saw a big problem in leadership strategies that needed to be looked into. Most institutions lack clear strategies and tactics for maintaining their long-term results. It was evident from department reservations and how administrations of the observed health units ran their activities. Take St Francis Health Services; there is an observable struggle in health insurance (Jordan & Wright, 1997).
Members of the public are addressing illnesses and complaints on health at very late stages. This is evident from the increasing number of patients in the Urgent Care Clinic. It should have been primary caregivers’ tasks, but after assessing the situation on the ground, we discovered most people do not have primary caregivers. From the information collected from a Unit Care Nurse, most people in the latter days have been showing up only when they feel sick. They do not go for regular checkups as it is supposed to be, and there are incidents of some showing up at last stages of their illnesses.
Environmental Analysis
As observations on the environmental factors affecting public health were being made, many things captured our attention in Jordan. There were a lot of observations made on social determinants that limited services of health care as well. They, however, narrow down to shortages of funds, looking at what was recorded in Veteran’s Park. They cease to be places where people refreshed up but points where young people go after the day. These young children spend time drinking and beer bottles littered as per the observation (Spiegel, & Yassi, 1997).
In Jordan, the members of the community are exposed to diverse environmental factors. Natural and technological disasters are regarded as the highest risks of ecological factors. Diseases caused by microbes are also health major concerns The way people feed and sanitation are the most common way these microorganisms caused diseases are spread—the main issue coming with the homeless who depend on the streets for food. There is also the lack of proper human waste disposal and cleanliness that exposes them to the same.
Conclusion
From a general point of view, their health care system has a very long way to go here in Jordan. If success in being efficient and providing quality services is to be achieved, the stakeholders in this field should play their fair role in their responsibilities.
The Community Health Assessment has helped identify the general needs of the public in this community and the social and environmental challenges they face. Speaking to different stakeholders in different areas, there was the conclusion that a lot needs to be done. A strategic plan is vital in ensuring that the practical challenges and needs recorded in Jordan’s community are acted upon.
