Healthy people 2020 is a federal government’s prevention plan for building a healthier nation. It can shape the care given in a school health setting by increasing the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational programs designed to prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance the quality of life. It would be like increasing the number of health care administrators in schools.
There are many common health problems for school-aged children (over five years of age) these may be, coughs and ear infections, children catch eight or more colds per year, and as they grow older, they get the immunity to fight the cold and most last for 5-7 days. Most ear infections are as a result of viruses and often follow a cold, and may cause earache and high temperature. Usually, the health intervention taken is administering a dose of paracetamol to the child.
In march 1949 the first issue of ‘the Manchester University’ journal for industrial nurses was published, it highlighted the importance of the education of industrial nurses and doctors for exceptional work in preventive medicine and nursing the publication became monthly in 1950and in 1963 it changed the name to Occupational health. From October 2015, the magazine became Occupational health and wellbeing and signaled a new era of the evolution of occupational health.
According to the ILO Convention No. 161/1985 (1) and the 1996 WHO Global Strategy on Occupational Health, protecting workers against disease and injury arising out of his or her employment, the establishment of occupational health services for all workers is recommended. The Convention, as well as the Strategy, emphasizes the importance of the multidisciplinary approach and multi-sectorial collaboration. It is evident that during the last decades of the 20th century, the concept of occupational medicine and occupational health is different. The domination ion of professional medical personnel seems to be disappearing in the modern world.
