Comparison between traditional and online shopping
Shopping goods is a basic phenomenon of every society, and today, the world of shopping is no longer as simple as it used to be. Costumers have many options to find and purchase the product that they want. Although things have been facilitated by using electronic commerce where anyone can purchase items from the internet, traditional shopping is always favourable for me because I can touch product and discuss with seller, I can shop in group with friends , and, I don’t have to worry about hacking or scamming since I can use cash.
One of the reasons why I prefer shopping in stores is because I can clearly see items and test them before I purchase anything. It helps a me feel better about the environment I am in and make my own choice. For example, if I go to a clothing store, I can try on a T-shirt or a jean to see if the quality is good and find out what matches with my size, unlike online shopping, I don’t get the ability to physically touch and inspect the products being purchased. This could make anyone doubt and sometimes hesitate to buy something from internet because you don’t really know and can’t test the quality. Also, in physical stores, you get the chance to have a face to face conversation with the seller and get more information about items that you are interested in. It makes you more open to the real world and real people.
Furthermore, traditional shopping is more enjoyable since you can go with family or friends and spend a fantastic time with them. In malls for example, you have options of coffee shops, arenas and other entertainment places. I think engaging in shopping experience with relatives and friends is also beneficial and can relieve stress and make you feel you live a life with no worries. That’s one of the main reasons why I prefer this way of shopping. It is better than being isolated sitting in front of a computer screen. Additionally, shopping with companions is also more helpful for me because I can get to know their opinion and advice and ask their opinions if for example I am not certain of buying something. Moreover, I prefer traditional market because you don’t have to wait for a delivery time which is a big concern in online shopping. Shipping problems and delay is a problem costumers face with even biggest shipping companies, and sometimes you don’t know the exact time when you will get your hands on your purchase because items could get lost, damaged or even sent to the wrong address.
In both traditional and online market people are exposed to scammers and hacks. However, in traditional stores, it is more like a personalized experience and can be easily encountered, particularly if I am buying a product that is a bit more complex, such as for example a microwave or a digital camera, I would rather check it out in person and get assistance from someone in real life and not take a risk and try to make a purchase online. Moreover, in online stores, I will have to enter my personal information such as, address and credit card number which can be stolen and hacked at any time, especially since online fraud attacks are in rise. Aside from that, sometimes you risk not to get the exact item or you get a poor quality if you purchase from a suspicious seller or website. In addition, shopping in physical stores provides more services concerning payment methods that are not risky, people can use cash which is helpful and easier in process, especially for those who don’t have a bank account. On the other hand, in online stores you may only use debit or credit cards to purchase A product.
In conclusion, Shopping in general is important for our society. Both traditional and online markets offer conveniences. For example, some people enjoy shopping without going out and on the other hand, some prefer to go by themselves to a market and be very careful when shopping online.
