World History has often been shaped by prominent individuals who have been influential in their various countries or world political map. Adolf Hitler of Germany and Mahatma Gandhi of India are political leaders who have shaped the world History. They are known for their significant contributions to the well-being of their nations though in different approaches. The two leaders have distinct differences in their rise to leadership, leadership style, and the legacy they left in their leadership.
Hitler’s rise to power started when he joined the military after his dream of becoming a painter was thwarted. He was influential in the First World War. When he received the news of the defeat of Germany when he was in the hospital, he firmly believed that the defeat came as a threat of Judaism and communism. He, therefore, vowed to revenge for the defeat of his nation, which he thought was the only way to redeem his nation. He thus ascended to power intending to revenge and regain his country’s lost glory
Mahatma Gandhi, on the contrary, rose to power as a leader who was opposed to unjust laws that were happening. He was against the discriminatory policies that were happening while he was still in South Africa. He protested against the laws that prevented the blacks and the Indian people from voting and owning property. The philosophical thought took him back to his country, where he was inspirational in leading peaceful protests against the British. A master of peace and a believer of non-violent protests, he led his people to end British rule in India and consequently becoming their leader.
Adolf Hitler is well known for his ambition and the need to see Germany rising. With his Nazi party, Hitler had a different ideology and a great believer of authoritarian leadership. He believed in an authoritarian kind of style that would lead the Germany race in its attempt to fight for survival and cleanse it from harmful influences. His rise to power was coupled by war, as his plans to conquer Europe turned out to be bloody. He led many revolutions, including his contribution to world wars. Hitler’s beliefs, thus, were coupled with the great ambition of Germany without looking at the consequences of his actions. To him, violence and the forced rule was seen as a liberation voice that could be understood quickly n the whole world and recognize Germany as a world force.
Mahatma Gandhi, on the contrary, believed in the truth and just regime. He was against oppression and the increased discrimination against his people. Unlike Hitler, Gandhi was not an authoritarian leader. His actions were based on organizing peaceful protests and boycotts, including hunger strikes, on airing the grievances of his people. Gandhi urged his followers to conform to the non-violence policy in his attempt to liberate his country from colonialism strictly. Gandhi’s vision was to create a peaceful world through cordial relations irrespective of race, religion, or color. He was a non-violent leader who fought at all costs to end injustices to humanity in a peaceful way.
Hitler’s belief in authoritarian leadership made him be greedy and egocentric. The increased hunger for power and his ambition caused him to become immoral and sincerely an authoritative leader. Because of his hunger for power, he led his nation to wars, which left the economy of Germany dilapidated. Misery and suffering were what begotten his people since he drove the country to many debts, a diplomatically tainted image, and a collapsed economy. His selfish interests left Germany a wounded nation to the extent that he decided to commit suicide after realizing he could not achieve his ambition.
Mahatma Gandhi succeeded in ending discriminatory policies after the laws were amended to end discrimination among Indians. His peaceful stand on the way he addressed matters that affected his people, coupled with his simplicity, earned him recognition and fame. Gandhi was very determined to have his grievances addressed in a peaceful manner with no violence attached. He was very determined to ensure that there is an end to racial, religion, and color discrimination in the sense that he tried to bring peace between the Hindus and the Muslims .Gandhi even though assassinated, he died a hero in his country for his liberation efforts.
Both Hitler and Gandhi were famous world leaders who shaped the history of the world. They both had different leadership approaches to their countries and were recognized for their contributions. The two had different leadership styles, the way they rose to power, and the legacy that they left behind after their deaths. Both leaders, therefore. Offer much to historians in their various contributions.
I used the block method to organize my body paragraphs. I find it easy for the reader because he can follow my work in a flowing manner. It also made it easy for me to bring out my ideas without mixing up.
Comparison and contrast essay differed from the Narrative writing I wrote in Touchstone 1 in a manner that, with this one, I had to compare two different people, unlike in narrative writing. It was also crucial to show comparisons and then their contrast, unlike in narrative writing. Ideas here are different because of comparison and the contrast, unlike in narrative writing, which has one main idea.
I found connecting the two people a challenge because they had different approaches. Bringing out their similarities was also a challenge. Getting to write a thesis statement that could hold their distinct differences also took me time.
