To do: find a recent (within 2 years) application of telemedicine and summarize it with three sentences.
The use of telemedicine has been applied recently as a way of reducing the spread of the Covid-19 transmission. This is through the less contact that exists between physicians and the patients because the spread of Covid-19 is rampant through body fluids that can be easily spread through the air.
To do: list three differences between Intranets and Extranets
- An intranet is within a large organization and mostly operated from within the organization while an extranet is considered somehow a public network whereby some people can connect from outside the organization.
- Extranet network has more bandwidth when compared to the intranet network as it tends to serve a high number of people or organizations at the same time.
- Extranet networks are expensive to set up as compared to the intranet networks.
To do: Find the name of a famous inventor who claims to have achieved wireless transmission quite some time ago Find out how efficient this is: how much power is lost and where does it go Have a quick look at the Qi standard, and summarize it in 3 sentences
In 1888, a famous inventor by the name of Heinrich Hertz managed to come up with the invention of wireless communication but it was discounted as a communication format because it was working for short-range applications as this was because it was losing power through electromagnetism. The amount of power that was lost was very significant that it could not perform or make any communications on a long-range communication platform.
The Qi standard is regarded as an open interface that is capable of performing power transfer through the process of inductive charging. This inductive charging can take place up to 4cm. For the working of this process, there needs to be both a compatible device together with a charging pad whereby the compatible device is placed on the pad.
To do (for Question 7) find and discuss 3 different myths about the Internet that may be common
- Everything on the internet is true.
According to some people, they are of the assumption and belief that anything they find on the internet is true. However, for anything to be regarded as genuine and having some level of truth, there needs to be strong evidence to back such claims. As such, the internet is not any different.
- The internet makes people rich.
Most people have made a ton of money through the internet. However, this has come with a lot of risks and challenges which every person should comprehend before diving deep into investing their hard-earned money on get-rich-quick schemes.
- The internet was developed for military use.
This idea is false as it was after the internet had been developed that the military began using the internet for its day to day operations.
To do: Think about 100 years back when telephone networks were built. What were some of the assumptions that were made then? Some hints: think about what kind of data was to be transmitted, how much, between which parties, etc. So what is different today? And why are those ‘older’ networks not necessarily a good fit for what’s going on? List the differences.
100 years back, the amount of data that was intended to be transmitted as perceived to be generally low because of the low population that was present. Through this, the data storage structures that were constructed seemed to only be capable of sustaining low amounts of data. Therefore, when compared to today’s data storage needs, the structures are not capable of handling such amounts due to demand and an increase in population. Secondly, being that the data was majorly intended for transmission between person to person in the past 100 years, today, the data transmissions are across all parties, from organizations to organizations to even gadgets and objects such as a car to car and the like.
