“If I had the chance to do it again…”
Beginning with a description of your personal definition of conflict, describe and analyse a conflict you experienced. This can be a workplace conflict or personal, recent or distance past. Ideally you should choose an experience that impacted you in some way.
Reflect on the beliefs, feelings and behaviours that you experienced in order to analyse and discuss from the perspective of conflict analysis. Pay attention to new learning that creates inner conflict with your mental models and worldviews.
You will be assessed on your ability to articulate your ideas and arguments, to examine your own personal assumptions, to demonstrate your openness to new ideas, to connect new theory to your own experience and practice, and to make meaning of your learning.
Objectives and Evaluation Criteria
- Demonstrates critical self-reflection and analysis of your personal values, beliefs and assumption in regard to conflict.
- Stimulate reflection on the cultural and social influences that have shaped your views in the past and may influence your perceptions (assumptions and bias) today. For example, you may consider cultural norms or the way that you have been socialized to think about conflict;
- Ability to structure your paper and make clear and substantiated connections between course material and personal insights to support critical analysis;
- Integrative, coherent and well-organized scholarly writing.
Format
- Papers should be typed, double-spaced, have 1” margins, and use a common 12-point font; Word format
- Papers should have a cover page and reference page.
- References are expected to be cited and consistently follow APA style of citation.
