Consumer Decision Making
Decision making is the process of making choices by identifying an option, gathering facts, and evaluating different intentions. Consumers use the buying decision process to make choices regarding the market transactions before, during, and after acquiring a good or service. This chapter reviews ways to make a milk box and a coke bottle stand out on store shelves. The milk boxes and coke bottles should be re-examined; the size of the packaging, from size to style, to sealing method. The packaging should also change according to seasons, special events, and holidays. Should consider the environment, for the environmentally conscious consumers, the plastics coke bottles should be changed growlers, which are re-usable. As the adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, make an impact with imagery the target customer will be likely to make a purchase when they see what’s in store.
Several ways can encourage consumers to spend more time considering the boxes of milk and coke bottles; first, offering lots of information about the products; this leads to trust, which leads to a long-term relationship and repeats sale. Make realist promise when taking a particular order for a customer, contact them after the order, reassure them about their order, and thank them. Deliver a high level of service, show them respect, keep them well informed and be on time for any appointments you may have set up. If you are late, call. Make them feel uniquely special; this can be done by showing them a sense of humor, show them interest, and friendly service attitude. Customers need to be involved in the buying decision and use sensory techniques such as giving the free sample milk or soda to test and decide whether to buy.
Lastly, we look at measures that should be considered to increase consumer demand for boxes of milk and coke bottles. It can be done by boosting brand awareness; brand awareness is essential because people have to know that the product exists; nobody buys anything they are not sure. Show potential consumers why you’re better than the other competitors by delivering your products in a better way, show them you got class and ensure you stand out. Another method to consider is partner marketing with which involves cooperating with other companies or brands to expose their products to their customers and vise vasa. The other consideration is to get consumers to spread the word about the products; a word to word information from family and friends is much appealing than on television or the internet. Finally, to regularly evaluate their performance, stay in level with new ideas and updates, and remain relevant to the customers.
