Consumers have the right to protection from dangerous products.  Lack of information about the health effects of cigarettes, yet legal has negatively affected the quality of life. It is the responsibility of the government to implement policies in the consumer protection act. Consumer complaints should be settled effectively and timely, thus raising questions as to how the cigarettes are still in the market. Warning labels in all tobacco brands is one of the stringent measures implemented by the authorities. Other policies include protection from the fraudulent business, thus allowing consumers to seek justice timely. The right to be heard has been active in recent times with positive results shown by some countries like Bhutan banning all tobacco products and others like Australia imposing strict smoking bans.

Tobacco is highly addictive, thus coping the stress in withdrawal can have effects on your mental health. However, hope is not lost, with strong will and the help of a doctor, one can overcome addiction. Death due to cancer of the lungs have been on the rise with doctors having stated that smoking is the leading cause of this and other Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) illness. Tobacco destroys dental health with teeth discolouring and gum diseases. Dry skin and premature wrinkles are symptoms in tobacco smokers.
